Cadillac Racing To Field Three GTP Factory Cars In 2025 Season

Cadillac Racing has announced that it is expanding it racing efforts in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship with a total of three factory-backed Gran Touring Prototype (GTP) race cars for the 2025 season. The expanded program will see Wayne Taylor Racing rejoin Cadillac alongside reigning IMSA GTP champion Action Express Racing, with the driver lineup slated to be announced at an unspecified date in the future. Both teams will run the Cadillac V-Series.R, powered by the Cadillac LMC55.R V8 engine.

“Wayne Taylor Racing and Action Express Racing bring decades of proven racing and technical expertise, and we look forward to continued success on the track,” said GM president Mark Reuss.

Wayne Taylor Racing, part of Andretti Global, returns to Cadillac after last competing for the manufacturer between 2017 and 2020, during which time the team secured three victories in the prestigious Rolex 24 At Daytona, as well as two wins at the Petit Le Mans and Twelve Hours of Sebring. Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing will field two V-Series.R racing machines for the 2025 season.

Wayne Taylor Racing will compete alongside Action Express Racing, the latter of which secured the GTP team and driver championship with Cadillac Racing in 2023. Action Express Racing has long a history with GM and the IMSA series dating back to 2012, including the Corvette DP and Chevy 5.5L V8 engine, as well as the Cadillac Racing Dpi and GTP programs.

As for Cadillac Racing’s resume, the team has earned nine Manufacturer Championships since 2005, as well as five IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup Manufacturer Championships and 69 sports car victories.

The chariot set to propel the teams’ efforts will be Cadillac V-Series.R, Cadillac’s third-generation prototype racer and the first to integrate an electric motor. The electric motor is paired with the LMC55.R V8 gasoline engine built at the GM Racing and Performance Center in Pontiac, Michigan, which made its debut in June of the 2022 calendar year.
