The Activ trim level for the current generation Chevy Trailblazer and upcoming 2024 Chevy Trax serves to provide a more rugged, active-lifestyle touch for the crossovers. Now, GM Authority has learned that an Activ trim level is currently under consideration for the next generation of the Chevy Equinox.
Unlike the Trailblazer and Trax, which are positioned as light all-terrain vehicles, the upcoming Equinox would receive a more extensive list of off-roading goodies to increase its capabilities, such as:
Although there isn’t an off-roading precedent related specifically to the Equinox, a trim level like this would make sense from a market-viewpoint. Among GM’s rivals, there are many light off-road-focused small crossovers on the market, including the Ford Bronco Sport, the Jeep Compass, the Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-Road and Subaru Forester Wilderness, among others.
It’s worth noting that details about the next-gen Chevy Equinox remain sparse. Officially confirmed by GM President Mark Reuss at the GM Investors Day event, it’s currently unknown if the upcoming Equinox will launch as a 2024 or 2025 model-year vehicle. For now, we expect that it will arrive as a 2025 model.
This is an important model to GM, as the Equinox competes in the compact crossover segment, which Reuss calls the largest segment in the world. As it stands, the current 2023 Equinox sells very well, placing third behind the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.

Speaking of the 2023 model, the current Chevy Equinox is powered by the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine, which produces 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. As for structure, the crossover rides on the GM D2 platform, while production takes place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant and GM San Luis Potosí plant, both of which are located in Mexico.

I'm all for that. As a current Equinox owner I would welcome some true soft-road ability in it.
Well, AWD should be standard on a Equinox Activ trim. Still glad GM has decided on continuing ICE powered Equinox along with the Equinox EV.
I would be very disappointed if the new ICE Equinox is not out next year alongside the EV variant. There's a market for both, and to put it off for another year (two from today) would be too long, imho.
The current model is fine for roughly two more years, that was taken into account with the refresh.
They're barely keeping the current model on lots before it's sold. Average days to turn is less than ten days for the past 12 months.
Gm considering a activ trim level for the next generation equinox is pretty cool in my opinion at least they are still going to offer in a gas model beside the EV equinox possibly itge same idea with its cousin the gmc terrain!!!!
They should also put a better engine in it, one with more power, the current one is a dog.
An Activ trim level Equinox should be a given and it needs more than one powertain. The 1.5 should have a little more power and I'd welcome even a mild hybrid version. The 2.0 needs to return.
