William Byron is no stranger to success at Homestead-Miami Speedway – not only did he win last year’s race at the 1.5 mile oval track, he poled the No. 24 Nascar Chevy Camaro ZL1 for the race on October 23rd, 2022.
Byron laid down a blistering lap time of 32.454 seconds at 166.389 mph in the No. 24 Nascar Chevy, unseating Christopher Bell’s No. 20 Toyota TRD Camry for the pole position. Bell’s No. 20 Camry got around Homestead in 32.503 seconds at 166.139 mph, qualifying second, while Chase Elliott’s No. 9 Camaro will start third with a time of 32.504 seconds at 166.133 mph. Fourth will be the No. 45 Camry of John Hunter Nemechek subbing for Bubba Wallace, who was suspended for one race after purposefully wrecking Kyle Larson’s No. 5 Camaro at Las Vegas last weekend. And speaking of Larson, the No. 5 Camaro will start fifth at Homestead with a time of 32.551 second at 165.894 mph.
Meanwhile, Noah Gragson continues to sub for Alex Bowman in the No. 48 Nascar Chevy. Bowman will sit out this weekend’s race as he continues to recover from a concussion sustained in a wreck at Texas a few weeks ago, and Gragson will start the No. 48 Camaro in 24th.
No pre-qualifying inspection failures have been reported, and every driver was able to make a lap time. The Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami will start at 2:30 p.m. EST on Sunday.

The Chevy's are looking good. It'll be interesting to see how Gregson does in the 48, after winning there yesterday. Looks like he has the racing line figured out.
Let's get another Camaro driver in #9 would be nice
Genuinely curious, Elliott is the winningest driver this season and has been a consistent front runner when he doesn't have terrible luck. Why do you want him replaced?
