The Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban both received an all-new generational overhaul for the 2021 model year, with the 2022 model year introducing just a hand full of changes and updates. Unfortunately, GM Authority has learned that the power-sliding console for both the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban is currently unavailable to order.
For those readers who may be unaware, the power-sliding center console offers multiple positions and configurations for added comfort and practicality, sliding forward and backwards up to 10 inches. Tagged with RPO code DCH, the full name of the feature is power-sliding center floor console with drawer, secure storage, manual sliding armrest and cup holders for second row.
It’s currently unclear if the feature unavailability is a result of the ongoing global microchip shortage, or if it’s simply due to supplier constraint.
The power-sliding console is typically optional for Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban LT, RST and Z71 trim levels. The power-sliding console is priced at $350, but requires the Luxury Package (RPO code WPL, $2,525) and power-release second row bucket seats (RPO code ATN, $370). The power-sliding console is also typically standard on Premier and High Country trim levels, but is replaced by the conventional Floor console with storage area and removable storage tray (RPO code D07) when ordered with second row power 60/40 split-folding bench seats (RPO code ATT) rather than the standard second-row bucket seats (RPO code ATN).
For the moment, 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban Premier and High Country trim levels will receive the Floor console with storage area and removable storage tray, which means a $350 credit on the price of the vehicle in lieu of the power-sliding center floor console with drawer, secure storage, manual sliding armrest and cup holders.
As a reminder, the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban are offered with three engine options, including the atmospheric 5.3L V8 L84, atmospheric 6.2L V8 L87, and 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax. Under the skin is the GM T1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

The power sliding center console is one of my favorite parts of the new Suburban and Tahoe’s cabin. Shame to see it be unavailable for the time being due to the micro chip shortage.
I Only Speak For Myself But I Am Sick And Tired Of GM's BS Of Canceling This And Canceling That . Last Year I Had To Put Up With It Ordering A Trail Boss. This Year I Ordered A High Country Suburban And It Looks Like I Will Be Canceling It If Anything I Ordered Cannot Be Made Due To Whatever.
Keep tacking on unavailable options GM. I was gonna order my 2022 suburban next month but I’m now holding off. Every day you remove an option I desire. I’ve been a GM Chevy guy my entire life but I’m now second guessing what avenue GM is being guided by. I will not settle “for less” as we’re being asked to do. My build price on the RST was $76,000 but removing this option I loved now has stop my order process. The Toyota Capstone is now in my sights. Please GM don’t follow the liberal trend it’s not American. A lost customer!
I have the console and it is nice.
Looks that I have to change my lovely Chevy Z71 to another Toyota carz
Mr. John
So you think you want to order a new Suburban? GM currently is only accepting orders for the High Country, good luck with any other models. Also if you desired Chrome 22’ Wheels for your new vehicle again good luck, if you desire a complete vehicle, again good luck.
Getting the picture? It’s not just sliding glove boxes, the list of unavailable, or build short items is growing more every day. The constant Chip Shortage due to Covid excuse is wearing mighty thin.
Question: Why does Tesla not have a Chip issue, or Apple for that matter? I suggest the management of those companies anticipated the possibility of disruptions and accounted for it. We are nearly mid way thru the model year, the question becomes do we want a year old model, assuming GM decides to start building the Premier in the next month and it takes 6 weeks to get it delivered. Maybe waiting until the 2024 model is available. Maybe, just maybe Mary and the Bean Boys will have it figured out by then. Chevy guy my whole life but maybe its time to think about another brand. Caddy is toooo ostentatious for me, but they seem to have chips.
Its just another needless gimmick that few people will think is so great they can't live without , I'd put it in the same category as that double jointed white elephant of a tailgate that the trucks are getting
I stand corrected. Thank you
Also, there is no cruise control available on the 2022 GMC Yukons including the 2022 GMC AT 4 . That alone is a huge mistake.
No cruise control???? Do you mean maybe Adaptive Cruise control or just no Cruise control period???
I was annoyed at the start of my 2021 GMC Yukon XL Denali order process (in June 2020). This $300 "option" is included in the Denali pkg, but they turn around and bill it as a separate accessory too! I have not pushed that button once, in the year I've owned it! I'm much happier with it as an armrest than a purse perch. Although, I'm sure many people love the secret compartment.
I'm just happy mine was built before the supply chain & microchip/microprocessor parts nightmare! All I had to worry about was the what seemed like never ending recall list!! I'm still holding my breath over the valve issue. Thankfully, mine is okay...so far.
I’m not understand why gm is the only one taking away all the options. You can go buy a wagoneer or expedition and get all the feautures you want but can’t seem to get a gmc or Chevy fully loaded. It’s really going to make a lot of people second guess their options at this rate.
