New 2022 Chevy Groove Officially Launches In Mexico

Four months after confirming the arrival of the Chevy Groove in Mexico, General Motors has just launched Chevrolet‘s entry-level crossover in the Latin American country – which will be its main international market. The automaker reports that the 2022 Chevy Groove will be available starting in November and will further expand the brand’s strong utility portfolio in the Mexican market.

The 2022 Chevy Groove represents the second model year of the Bow Tie brand’s smallest and most affordable utility vehicle, based on the Baojun 510 developed by the China-based SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture, to meet the high demand for economic crossovers in more than 40 emerging countries. Mexico is expected to become the market with the highest sales volume for Groove in the world.

“The 2022 Groove arrives to complete the broad portfolio of Chevrolet SUVs, and now our customers will have an option in the brand that responds to their needs, starting from the subcompact segment,” said Marketing Manager for Chevrolet at GM Mexico, Yammil Guaida, in a statement. “We are convinced that with its attractive and youthful design, equipment, customization, space and price, Chevrolet Groove will be the first choice for customers looking to enter the SUV segment,” he added.

As in the other Latin American countries where it has already been launched, starting with Chile in late 2020, the 2022 Chevy Groove arrives in Mexico with two distinctive trim levels, LT and Premier. However, the Mexican-market Groove also gets a LT Premium variant that introduces a CVT automatic transmission for the first time on the nameplate.

As such, the 2022 Chevy Groove’s powertrain lineup in the Latin country consists of a single naturally aspirated 1.5L engine that develops 110 horsepower and 108 pound-feet of torque, which can be mated to a five-speed manual transmission in the base LT or the new CVT automatic that simulates eight fixed gears on the LT Premium and range-topping Premier variants. The vehicle is available with a front-wheel drivetrain in all markets.

The new 2022 Chevy Groove will be available throughout the entire Mexican Chevrolet dealer network early next month, with extensive comfort, technology and safety equipment that will make it stand out in its class. With the arrival of the 2022 Groove, Chevrolet’s utility portfolio in Mexico includes seven models that cover the main market segments: Groove, Tracker, Captiva, Blazer, Traverse, Tahoe and Suburban.

The suggested prices of the three 2022 Chevy Groove variants in the Mexican market are as follows:

  • 2022 Groove LT Manual: 332,900 MXN (about $16,450 USD at the current exchange rate)
  • 2022 Groove LT CVT: 360,900 MXN ($17,850 USD)
  • 2022 Groove Premier CVT: 390,900 MXN ($19,330 USD)
