1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 Up For Sale In Indiana

Produced between 1963 and 1977, the Chevrolet Chevelle nameplate was one of the most successful Bow Tie products of its day, with a plethora of body styles and iterations produced over the course of three generations. One of the most exciting of these was the Chevrolet Chevelle SS396, as featured here.

By 1966, the Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 had become its own series, using the same coupe and convertible body style of the Malibu SS, but with a reinforced frame and sharper suspension tuning. Under the hood was a selection of three high-performance 396 cubic-inch V8 engines.

This particular Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 received a body-off restoration, and looks great dressed up in deep Maroon paint. We’re also loving the hood bulges and straight, bright trim work, which play well with the ruddy exterior finish. Cragar mag wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial TA tires give it the appropriate aesthetic in the corners.

Stepping inside the cabin, we find this Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 equipped with black vinyl upholstery from front to back, plus a pair of custom bucket seats for the first row. A set of custom gauges take up a spot in the dash, while a floor-mounted shifter handles the cog swaps.

Things look good under the hood as well, with polished bits and a few modern touches to boot. The Chevelle’s 396 V8 engine runs through 4.11 gears and a 12-bolt positraction rear end.

“The motor has been professionally built, it is bored .040 and has roller rockers,” the vehicle listing outlines. Up top is a Holley 750 carburetor. Apparently, there are even electronically controlled cutouts in the Pypes exhaust system for extra thunder on demand.

It’s a tempting bit of kit, especially with just 3,433 miles on the odometer. Now, this 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 is on sale from Derek Motorcar Co. in Fort Wayne, Indiana, for $35,000.
