Tesla Owner Shows How To ‘De-ICE’ Chevrolet Silverado Blocking Charging Station

It appears resentment towards electric cars, or Teslas in general, is on the upswing. The trend, called ICE-ing, a reference to another vehicle internal-combustion engine, has seen flocks of pickup truck drivers blocking Tesla vehicles from charging at designated Supercharging stations spots.

However, one Tesla Model X owner decided to show off the capability of the Model X and towed a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 from in front of a Supercharger station. We have to note, the Tesla driver used a relative’s Silverado for this video and did not simply tow a random person’s pickup. We do not condone tampering with anyone else’s property.

The video is instead meant to show Teslas are capable and not wimpy electric cars as some choose to believe. Tesla makes some of the quickest cars on the planet, after all.

But, the real story is who or what is behind the recent uptick in ICE-ing incidents. Green Car Reports tracked the incidents via a Tesla subreddit on the social media platform Reddit, where many Tesla owners have complained of these incidents becoming far more common.

Pickup truck drivers and even semis have deliberately blocked Supercharging stations, and in one case, the truck owners screamed profanity at Tesla drivers attempting to pull into a designated charging bay. Most incidents have occurred in North Carolina, Texas, and Tennessee.

Many cities have already passed laws that make it illegal for vehicles powered by internal-combustion engines to park in spots designated for electric cars. Most of the time, however, drivers simply don’t realize the purpose of some designated parking spots for electric vehicles.

Yet, that isn’t the case with these incidents. And more often than not, Supercharging stations are not placed in prime parking spots—usually they reside further away from a building and aren’t exactly the most convenient places for those running into a convenience store or other retailer.

    • Maybe people who resent that their tax dollars go to subsidize wealthy people who can afford Teslas.

      • People that buy Teslas pay more in sales tax than the credit they get for purchasing an EV, so basically they are not getting any of your tax dollars. Any time someone complains about their tax dollars, they typically don't understand how it works.

    • What's to be divided about? These Tesla charging stations are often in an obscure corner of a Best Western parking lot. (I've stayed at them and shared elevators with just the type that would do this too--icky people, to say the least.)

Anyone that would intentionally block these spaces when other parking is available is an idiot.

How would these truck owners' fat, hairy, bacon flaked asses like it if Tesla, Volt, and/or Prius owners decided to block the pumps at their local filling station?

Unfortunately this country is full of people like this. Inbred idiots. Plain and simple. It's shame these charging stations can't serve as a giant mouse trap of sorts and electrocute anyone that doesn't belong in them. They would be doing the world a huge favor.

    • I have three trucks. All used for their intended purpose and not as cars or Ego Haulers..

I'm with the Muskrats, whatever the hell that means.

      • Trucks have their purpose. Even if someone doesn't use it for hauling, they are still welcome to have one.
Muskrat is a reference to Elon Musk.

  • And folks call me all kinds of things....

I’ve been coming on here saying there’s incredible stupidity amongst rightwing nutjobs. Well, here it is.

Absolute proof rightwingers only want an argument. They don’t care what the argument is about, if the argument actually supports their theories (can they even hold theories inside their brains?) or if the argument makes everyone absolutely sure they are stupid. They are GOING TO ARGUE.

How to stop folks who literally won’t stop until they get stopped? Time for organized responses. Organized to be ready to ensure they get stopped in their tracks and (if necessary) can’t go again.

Time for their children to see them get stopped, so they grow up knowing not to follow them.

  • This I agree is so dumb. If it was the only parking spot available I would have no problem. Tesla however should be required to serve all electric cars and not just their own however. They need to come up with a universal connector for all or a adapter that non tesla users can use to charge their cars. Tesla car owners no longer get free charging anymore so they would be smart to let anyone charge their.

    • Tesla's supercharger technology is available for use of any car manufacturer that wants to utilize it, per Elon Musk himself. However, no one has taken him up on it as of yet.

  • I'm sure it happens on rare occasions. However I have to wonder how often it actually happens. This video itself is "fake news" in that it was completely staged. Do we really need to make this out like it's an epidemic when it's really an unusual occurrence? Kids being idiots is all it is. Pass out a parking ticket and a few tows and it will stop, no big deal.

Obviously there is stupidity among "right wing nutjobs". There is stupidity among "left wing nutjobs". Stupidity surrounds us unfortunately and knows no bounds for race, creed, or political affiliation.

    • Maybe not an 'epidemic' but beginning to happen to often. Like Coal Rollers, the mentality of these blocking types is low-end at best and often the same offenders.

In my area, vehicles blocking charging stations get fined and towed.

  • that is why when you park your car or truck always turn the wheels all the way to the right of left as it can not be towed

    • In FL, the fine is comparable to blocking a disabled spot and can be immediately towed, even if the property owner doesn't request it.

  • For years, idiots in foreign junk have accused and attacked trucks and other vehicles that may not share their tree hugging point of view. Eventually when lithium sources run out and these power wheels rolling bomb cars end up costing way too much and it defeats the purpose, they'll come back to their internal combustion friend. hindsight is the environmentalist's curse... Then again, they are pretty gullible

      • 1994 geo metro. 3 cyl, 55mpg, no lithium, no battery array, no drain on the power grid. They did it then, they could do it now, but we're simply replacing one depleting resource for another depleting resource. Hippies and environmental tards don't understand this.

    • There is so.much wrong with this comment I have to respond.

      What 'foreign junk'.

Most people who buy 'foreign junk' are not 'tree huggers'.

Lithium sources are more then adequate to now and future demand. Unfortunately we, the U.S., don't control the sources.

New EV'S are getting cheaper and used EV'S and hybrids are going up in price. Seems more then 'tree huggers' are getting/comprehending the obvious message.
