GM Invests $47 Million Into Spring Hill, Bay City For Future Product Programs

General Motors is investing into its U.S. manufacturing base yet again, this time announcing $47 million in total between the Spring Hill, Tennessee, and Bay City, Michigan plants.

Specifically, Spring Hill will receive $27 million to begin assembling the 2017 GMC Acadia in right-hand drive configuration for Holden to be exported to Australia.

Bay City Powertrain in Michigan will receive $20 million for the production of cam rough machining operations for future engines. Bay City currently produces engine components for Cadillac, GMC, Buick and Chevrolet vehicles.

In total, 230 jobs will be retained across both plants

The investment monies come as part of GM’s $1 billion investment across multiple U.S. manufacturing facilities it announced in January.
