A South Carolina man had his spree of vehicle thefts ended with the help of OnStar after climbing into a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse.
The Greensville Sun reports Roy Treadway had stolen two additional vehicles before stealing a 2016 Traverse that was left running at a gas station. The owner reported his vehicle stolen immediately after the incident. Upon the report, OnStar stepped in to assist local police.
OnStar was able to shut the vehicle down remotely, via Stolen Vehicle Assistance, bringing the 2016 Traverse to halt and allowing police to bring Treadway into custody.
Treadway has been charged with theft over $10,000, driving with a revoked license and was found to be violating a probation warrant.
Once again, it was OnStar to the rescue to help end a situation that easily could have had another outcome.

OnStar should be free for every GM vehicls that cost over $40,000. My Chevy Equinox has the OnStar equipment but OnStar service doesn’t cover my area.
How so? It works by satellite…
It uses cell phone networks. AT&T in the US and Bell in Canada.
Not too smart of the driver to leave it running.
