Cops at the New Braunfels police department in Texas are surely fighting over the keys to the precinct’s newest ride: A 2007 Corvette C6 Z06.
Funny enough, the LS7-powered, 505 hp beast used to belong to a drug dealer, but was seized during a DEA raid. The vehicle was then awarded to the New Braunfels PD for its help in taking down the crime ring.
But the story doesn’t end there. The department soon decided the Z06, like any chase vehicle worth its salt, needed a name and it took to Facebook for some help. Entries were open to kids 8-16 and the department received all sorts of appropriate names, like: Chase, Optimus Crime, Lightning McCrime, Blue, Black Fury, Taken, The Dark Knight, Blazer, and so on.
Now, the Corvette has its official name, and will make its official debut in the Comal County Fair Parade this Friday. Ladies and gents meet Coptimus Prime, the newest member of the New Braunfels PD. Hopefully the PD can get some some proper Z06 wheels on there in time for the parade.
Have a look at the entry page here and then let us know what name you’d have chosen for the seized Z06.

Wake County NC has a corvette cop car too idk which trim
Cool to have, but I think testosterone is clouding their sensibilities:
- could have sold it and bought a new PPV/SUV with four seats. A two-seater is kind of useless.
- sell it and buy Kevlar vests, or invest in technology. Or add another cop to the force.
- electronically tag it and let it lead you back to the meth kingpin's lair. (This dealer was in the meth trade).
Wonder what they had to pay to make the Vette road ready - paint, electronics, tires, lights. Not exactly like getting a free, ready to roll car.
I can see how they'd get excited. But it just seems like the money's be better-spent elsewhere.
