General Motors’ Best Seller Is Its Most Recalled

General Motors’ best selling vehicle is also its most recalled vehicle: the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins have been recalled nine times since going on sale 12 months ago.

GM told CNN that the recalls are part of the company’s commitment to safety. “We are doing our best to minimize inconvenience to owners of recalled vehicles…But our customers’ safety comes first. If we identify an issue – large or small – that might affect the safety of our customers, we will act decisively,” said GM spokesman Alan Adler.

The North American Truck of The Year has been put under the microscope for a number of issues, ranging from a small batch of trucks with unsecured floor mats to almost 500,000 trucks that “could shift into neutral unexpectedly.” Other issues have included overheating exhaust parts and a steering issue that was so severe the company “sent flatbed trucks to take the vehicles in for repairs.”
