General Motors Cancels Shift At Fort Wayne Assembly Due To Parts Shortage

After cancelling shifts at its Fort Wayne assembly plant in Indiana from Monday through to Tuesday night, General Motors has announced that Wednesday’s first shift will also be cancelled.

The shift cancellations are the result of an equipment breakdown at a parts supplier, which has caused a parts shortage at the plant. Plant Communication Manager Stephanie Jentgen told WANE the issue won’t affect customers, as work schedules typically change to meet business and market demands anyway.

The Fort Wayne assembly plant manufactures the 2015 model-year Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. GM did not identify a specific parts supplier in the shortage for competitive reasons.

All employees working in skilled trades and all second and third shift salaried employees are supposed to report at their normal times tomorrow. Jentgen also told employees to call the GM Fort Wayne Information Line at (866) 503-7755 for the most timely scheduling information.

Sam loves to write and has a passion for auto racing, karting and performance driving of all types.
