  • GM's luxury boys are absolutely sprinting with a relatively limited product range. Can't wait to see what 2 years time brings when Cadillac has a more robust Vand Vsport lineup, 3rd gen SRX, new Escalade, two new CUVs (compact and fullsize), LTS, ELR, ATS coupe (and what ever other body variants: convertible, wagon!).

    • It is? For having only one body style and in one of the most competitive segments, it is doing ok. Not a sales knockout like the Encore (which is basically the only car in it's class), but it's ok. Once a coupe, convertible, Vsport, and V start working their way in the ATS portfolio we'll see the sales climb

  • I've been watching CTS sales drop for the last few months, and I've been telling myself that it's as a result of the 3rd gen CTS that's en route; enough people are holding out for it to launch while the dealers shift the old CTS out.

Anyone else have something on the CTS? At worst, I'm thinking that the CTS has fallen out of favour and that the new CTS won't get any traction when it comes out.

I would hope that I'm wrong.

    • It's because the ATS is similarly sized and priced but offers much more. GM and everyone knew this was going to happen. Anyone with a current CTS expecting a similar sales experience with the nee model should be shopping the ATS, the CTS is moving up fairly drastically in price, and justifiably so.

  • Now before we get too excited lets give this some time. There was a lot of new product and there is always a spike. Lets see the staying power here and what models hold out.

Example the new Buicks did fine but the Regal and Lacrosse dropped. Yes they are older models but similar age Equinox and Terrain are still gaining more sales and have since new. If the new models do this GM will be sitting pretty.

Stop looking at percentages and start reading the real sales numbers as they tell the real story.

A car company can tank one year and then claim a 90% increase but only increase a few thousand cars. It can be very misleading.

I do see a lot of positives here but I want to see the staying power of things like the XTS etc. The new CTS will just bring a new strong spike soon.

I would love to see the new Impala sales here as they are not at the dealers long and there are already shortages.

  • This is the reason I support GM's idea that they shouldn't release the numbers of cars sold month to month and where they come from! Why you ask? Because they are or can be misleading, people can bend the numbers to make them look like they want them to look both good and bad!

Like the poster above said, a car can tank it the year before and have a huge increase in sells in terms of % year over year as well as month over month!

I think the main thing GM needs to show its customers is the profits that are or are not being made!

    • Yea but the Malibu got spanked by the Camry and Accord, that sold 44k and 38k units respectively! I hope the new Malibu can close the gap a little bit because 16k units is not where the Malibu needs to be.

      • the Malibu sold about the same as the last gen...... I do agree with you for Malibu to be at the pace where the Camry and Accord is but I'm not sure how people can motivate old people from buying the Camry and Accord lol

    • Yes it was a very fine car when i had one (a 2013, my daughter has it now). But it could have used some improvements
