1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Presidential Limousine Up For Auction In Florida

There aren’t many rare, desirable, and unique Cadillacs from the 1996 model year, but one of them is going up for auction next month. It’s a 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Presidential Limousine, claimed to be the one and only fully armored Presidential limo in the private sector. It’s crossing the Mecum Kissimmee 2025 auction block next month and only has 626 miles on the clock. There’s a process for the Secret Service to destroy Presidential limos when they’re decommissioned, but apparently, this one slipped through the cracks.

As you may have guessed from the model year, this limo was built for President Bill Clinton. One of three of its kind, it has a 454-ci V8 engine built by Jack Roush, 3-inch thick bulletproof glass, blast-proofing to the B6 standard, onboard oxygen and fire suppression systems, a 3-inch raised roof, a telephone, and a television with a VCR. Naturally, it also has a pair of American flags on the front fenders.

According to the Mecum listing, an estimated $6,000,000 was invested to build this run of limos. As for the other two limos like this one, one was never released by the CIA, and the other is in the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Since this Cadillac Presidential limo is truly one-of-a-kind (at least in private hands), it’s difficult to estimate its cash value. This same limo sold at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2008 auction for $275,000 with no reserve. President Herbert Hoover’s 1932 Cadillac 452-B V-16 Imperial limo sold via Bonhams in 2013 for $87,750, but that’s quite a different car than Bill Clinton’s armored, bulletproof Caddy.

As for its status as a street-legal car that you could actually drive around on public roads, you could theoretically get it registered through your state’s DMV as a 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood. Insurance might be a little trickier to figure out, but this is a car that could theoretically be used as a daily commuter or family car. Drive it to your local thrift store and pick up some VHS tapes for the kids to enjoy in the back.
