VW has unveiled the refreshed 2025 Volkswagen Taos crossover, showing off a new design, a new dash, and a few updates for the turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder under the hood. The first units will arrive in dealers by the end of the year. Official pricing information for the refreshed 2025 Volkswagen Taos has yet to be released, but when it launches, it will rival the recently refreshed Chevy Trailblazer.
Let’s start with the exterior, where the 2025 Volkswagen Taos shows a new bumper and grille incorporating a slim upper section and larger lower section, the latter of which incorporates a prominent intake surround that emphasizes the size of the overall design. The Taos also now includes LED projector headlights as standard across the lineup, while three new paint options join the options list, including Bright Moss Green, Monterey Blue Pearl, and Monument Gray. There are new 17-inch, 18-inch, and 19-inch wheel options as well.
Inside, the refreshed 2025 Taos shows of a new dashboard, with the central, horizontally oriented eight-inch infotainment screen now mounted in a floating, upright fashion, rather than integrated with the rest of the dash. Further updates in the cabin include new materials and color options, plus additional acoustic dampening, while touch controls are available for the HVAC on SE trims and above.
The safety and driver assist technology suite feature list is extensive, and includes highlights like the Travel Assist semi-automated driving assistance feature, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, Active Blind Spot Monitor, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, lane keeping assist, and more.
Moving under the hood, the 2025 Volkswagen Taos features the turbocharged 1.5L I4 EA211 TSI gasoline engine, which now features revised piston rings and fuel injectors, a new turbo housing, a larger intercooler, and a new gasoline particulate filter. The result is additional output, rising from 158 horsepower for 2024 to 174 horsepower for 2025. In addition, the seven-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox is replaced by an eight-speed unit on models equipped with 4Motion all-wheel drive.

Reliability of this thing has been dreadful. It's possible that VW has finally addressed the problems with this update, but I'd take my chances on the Trailblazer before this. I just wish that darn way overpriced Bronco Sport wasn't its direct competitor because it keeps GM from offering halfway decent discounts on them.
I really hope the gasoline particulate filter doesn't become a standard across the industry.......already ruined diesels with these things
