Cadillac Escalade IQL Sport Spotted Completely Undisguised: Photos

Just yesterday, GM Authority served up photos of the new Cadillac Escalade IQL Luxury exiting GM’s testing grounds. The images showed the extended-length, all-electric luxury vehicle in production-ready form, with no camouflage or anything else obscuring the exterior styling. Now, we’re back at it with another set of photos, this time showing off the new Escalade IQL Sport.

For readers who may have missed it, the Escalade IQL serves a similar role in the all-electric Escalade IQ lineup as the extended-length Escalade ESV serves in the ICE-based Cadillac Escalade lineup, offering up expanded interior room thanks to longer exterior dimensions. However, while the Escalade ESV has an extended wheelbase and a longer overall length compared to the standard ICE-based Escalade, the IQL simply extends to rear overhang to achieve its expanded interior room, likely a result of considerations to vehicle efficiency and overall vehicle costs.

Compared to the IQL Luxury covered yesterday, this Cadillac Escalade IQL Sport shows a number of styling differences. Among these are new trim pieces, with the shiny polished chrome on the IQL Luxury replaced with black trim on the IQL Sport. The trim pieces can be found up front, on the roof with the roof rails, along the upper window line, down the C-pillar, lower in the door line, and in the rear hatch. The wheels are different as well, with extra black styling elements found inside the spoke design on the IQL Sport.

Compared to the standard-length Escalade IQ, the Cadillac Escalade IQL also shows a few other styling differences, such as a reworked C-pillar and D-pillar, as well as a larger rear glass section, slightly altered taillights, and a more upright rear glass section on the hatch.

As a reminder, the Cadillac Escalade IQ and Cadillac Escalade IQL both ride on the GM BT1 platform, with motivation sourced from GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors. Vehicle assembly takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.

    • These are powered by the most sophisticated electric motor ever built. They are not going anywhere.

      • @Fwangi Silonzo
While I completely agree that GM is NOT gonna die they most definitely DO NOT have the most sophisticated Electric Motors in the Industry. They should however be extremely robust.

The most sophisticated most likely goes to the Lucid Motors or the Tesla Carbon Sleeve Plaid motors.

The biggest issue with these Motors is they most likely (Per Motor Experts) will not work with truly 800 Volt Architectures. Before everyone starts saying that the Silverado, Sierra, and Escalade IQ run on 800 Volt architecture it is not really the case. They can split the packs because they are HUGE packs.

Hence why the Celestiq ONLY charges at 200kW and NOT 350kW

        • Ultium EV motors
96 slots, 8 parallel paths; everyone else in the industry uses 48 slots, everyone is using 2 to 4 parallel paths
Only 37 Kilos of magnetic materials only for the whole motor, including, steel copper and magnets making 375 HP
          Optimized for 400 Volts
Power per kilogram is the industry benchmark 10.1 per Kg.
          Etc, etc
It’s the electric equivalent of the small block.

      • Sophisticated? The Ultium motors are good, but there are much higher tech and lighter, better ones on the market or about to hit production. Look at the Koenigsegg Quark and Dark Matter motors for example, better than Ultium power. The Quark motors weighs 63lbs. Their upcoming Terrier drive unit which is 2 Quark motors and gearset is 187lbs. The Ultium rear drive unit from a Blazer EV is 245lbs. The Terrier is 670hp and 811ft.lbs torque, the Ultium rear unit in Blazer is 340hp 325 ft.lbs torque.

To me, GM has a lot of work to do still. Better and lighter weight drive units are needed, as is smaller batteries with better tech.

        • GM is not going to build a 1 off motor like the Koenigsegg, they are a mass market company. Their motors have to be mass produced, scalable, etc. for multiple applications.

This is where the genius is. These motors have to be efficient for the bolt and be powerful enough to push the Hummer.

Who else is doing this on the same single architecture?

  • Watch the "Red Carpet" arrivals next year as many movie starts will buy this electric Escalade IQ and be seen with it in public. Naysayers are just jealous of them!

    • "Movie starts"? Interesting choice of words. This movie has already started, and it has a tragic ending.

  • The long version of the IQ Slade flows much better in design than the ICE Long version.
    Nicely done GM.

  • Now I’m curious where does the extension go ? With the ice, it was all extra space for trunk. This one, they’re saying it’s actually extending room for I’m guessing only 3rd row passengers with a little extra trunk space ? And what about a V trim ?
