Custom 1981 Chevy Camaro Is 2023 Hot Wheels Legends Tour Finalist: Video

The Hot Wheels Legends Tour was recently in Atlanta as it hunts down some of the world’s best custom cars and vehicles. The tour will culminate with one lucky builder’s creation immortalized in a new Hot Wheels die-cast model – quite the honor for any automotive enthusiast. Now, event organizers have announced Michael Scire as the latest Hot Wheels Legends Tour finalist for his fully bespoke 1981 Chevy Camaro.

Built over a period of 18 years, this is one extremely wild-looking machine. As the story goes, Scire has owned this Chevy Camaro since he was 15 years old, and built it into what it is today through sheer grit and determination.

“Even after suffering a spinal injury, Michael proved that nothing could put the brakes on his dream,” Hot Wheels says.

The Hot Wheels Legends Tour scours the globe in the search for the next custom Hot Wheels die-cast model. Regularly attracting top builder talent, the Tour includes a car show and hosts special guests at each stop, with a finalist selected from a huge field of impressive builds. Finalists are selected based on a number of different criteria, including authenticity, creativity, and garage spirit. Past winners include a 1970 Pontiac Firebird taking top honors in the 2020 tour.

Scire’s Chevy Camaro stands out for a number of different reasons. The body now presents a custom roadster shape with exposed front wheels and suspension, creating a low-slung look that’s absolutely insane to look at. It’s hard to believe this thing was once a Camaro. The front frame was stretched while the unibody was shortened, while an LT V8 engine provides the motivation.

The tour next heads to Detroit, Michigan on June 10th, followed by Chicago, Illinois on June 24th and Houston, Texas on July 8th. We wonder what new rides it’ll dig up next.
