Chevy Silverado 1500 Officially Introduced In Brazil

General Motors has just kicked off the official introduction of the Chevy Silverado 1500 in Brazil, marking the return of Chevrolet‘s iconic full-size pickup to Latin America’s largest automotive market.

The new Chevy Silverado 1500 made its first public appearance in Brazil on April 20th during a special episode of the 2023 Big Brother Brasil reality show, one of the most successful and highest-rated television shows in the country that Chevrolet began sponsoring this year. The automaker took this opportunity to reveal that the Silverado is the vehicle it has reserved for the winner of the series’ 23rd edition.

“2023 is the year of pickup trucks for Chevrolet. First we launched the New Montana, then we presented the New S10 Midnight and we are going to close the year on a high note, celebrating the arrival of the Chevrolet Silverado,” said Executive Director of Marketing at GM South America, Chris Rego. “And the BBB is, without a doubt, the best platform for us to give the model the visibility it deserves,” he added.

After a notable absence of two decades, the Chevy Silverado will return to Brazil this year as the brand’s new flagship in its second largest market by volume, where it will strengthen the Bow Tie’s image and become a strategic model in the renewed line of pickups in the Brazilian market. As such, the Silverado completes the portfolio of pickups that will cover the compact, midsize and large segments.

GM Brazil affirms that the Chevy Silverado 1500 will be offered in the South American country with configurations that will surprise the expectations of the local consumer, without revealing any equipment details. However, the official images show the Brazilian-market Silverado in the High Country trim level with a new wheel design and specific rear-view mirrors – coming from the North American HD variant – to comply with the country’s legislation.

The Chevy Silverado 1500 will be officially launched in Brazil during the second half of the year, when it will begin to reach the network of official Chevrolet dealers in the country as a 2024 model. Unlike the other South American countries where the Silverado is imported from Mexico, units for the Brazilian market will come from the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana – as GM Authority reported exclusively last year.

  • I hope they start selling Tahoes in south America too. It would be great to have parts inventory for my trips down there.
