2024 Cadillac XT4 To Use Global B Electronic Architecture

GM revealed the refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4 crossover this past February, showing off an updated exterior, a new cabin, and the latest tech features. Now, GM Authority has learned that the 2024 Cadillac XT4 will support those new tech features via GM’s Global B electronic architecture. The Global B system, also known as Vehicle Intelligence Platform, will support full roadway coverage for the GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist system.

For those readers who may be unaware, the GM Global B system acts as a sort of “digital nervous system” to connect onboard features via software and hardware. The Global B system debuted on the 2020 Cadillac CT5 and is now a part of several different models across GM’s lineup.

Among the advantages of the system is the possibility for over-the-air (OTA) updates, which enables onboard software systems to wirelessly update via a web connection, thus quickly and efficiently handling things like software patches and software-related recalls. Global B/VIP also provides a more integrated and streamlined interconnected software system, additional processing power, and a more natural digital user experience as well.

Critically, Global B will also support the 2024 Cadillac XT4 and the crossover’s eventually available GM Super Cruise system. Similar to the Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon, Chevy Tahoe, and Chevy Suburban, units of the Cadillac XT4 equipped with Super Cruise will offer more than 400,000 miles of semi-autonomous driver assistance in the U.S. and Canada, as compared to the more-limited 200,000-mile coverage offered by Super Cruise-equipped units of the Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XT6, and Chevy Bolt EUV.

As a reminder, the 2024 Cadillac XT4 cradles the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine as standard, with output rated at 235 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm. Under the body panels, the refreshed Cadillac XT4 rides on the GM E2 platform. Production takes place at the GM Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas City.
