The 2023 Chevy Silverado HD is the heavy-duty pickup truck’s final model year before the introduction of a mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 model year. Now, GM Authority has learned when the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2023 Chevy Silverado HD is set to begin at the GM Oshawa plant in Canada.
According to GM Authority sources, the SORP for the 2023 Chevy Silverado HD is set to kick off at the GM Oshawa plant on September 12th, 2022. Meanwhile, the SORP for the Silverado HD at the GM Flint plant in Michigan is still on track to begin July 18th, 2022, as GM Authority covered previously.
The 2023 Chevy Silverado HD was previously slated to introduce a full model refresh for the heavy-duty nameplate, but as a result of delays stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, the refresh was pushed back by one model year to 2024. With that in mind, the 2023 Chevy Silverado HD will introduce just a handful of small changes and updates as compared to more substantial changes slated for the 2024 model year.
The Chevy Silverado HD is currently performing well in terms of sales, with continuing high demand from customers. Although Silverado HD sales were down 7.5 percent during the 2021 calendar year, the drop in sales is the result of limited availability at the dealer level. Now, with production set to ramp up at the GM Flint plant later this month and at the GM Oshawa plant in September, short-term availability should be bolstered considerably.
Under the hood, the 2023 Chevy Silverado HD is offered with two engine options, including the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, rated at 401 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 464 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm, as well as the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 445 horsepower at 2,800 rpm and 910 pound-feet of torque at 1,600 rpm. Under the skin is the more-capable version of the GM T1 platform.

When can I build my 2500 HD 2023 and do it with package prices.
Remember, the 1500 high country is the only model that offers super cruise.
The high country 2500 HD and the 3500 HD don't come with it.
Also, until the chip shortage ends, you get the heated seats and steering wheel but no chips to operate them. But when they get them they will recalled I guess.
Been waiting for mine chips on my 2022 3500 crew cab, long bed, LTZ dually since January.
I am tired of waiting on GM to pick up their game on options.
I want 4wd Crew fully loaded With Adaptive Cruise
I may have to change brands
I have been waiting on my 2022 2500 HD crew cab long bed since June of 2021. You've got alot more waiting to do......
What is meant by the phrase: "The 2023 Chevy Silverado HD is the heavy-duty pickup truck’s final model year before the introduction of a mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 model year"? Does this mean the 2024 will come early?
Yes. Figure September production for HD2500 and 3500. Same body as 1500 with newer dash panel.
Happy waiting.....
I always thought that duel exhaust would give you about a5% boost on you engine performance, so why don’t we see it offered here as a standard equipment ?
There are so many built and just parked at the GM head office in Oshawa. They should ship those out. I drove past there this past week.
One large diameter pipe had less pressure drop than two smaller ones, hence a large single pipe being standard.
So tired of being lied to by gm l ordered a high country diesel in December it had a bad motor they said they would build a new one and you get put to the top of the list I'm still waiting nothing but lies
Placed order for 22 Crewcab, Longbox, in April. Dealer had me respec it in August, because said it will be a 23 now. Been 6 months since initial order and still no estimated delivery date. Seriously considering going Ford or Ram. Or really wish someone would actually commit to a schedule.
