The Tesla Model Y currently leads the way with regard to electric crossover market share and is expected to remain in the top spot as increased competition arrives in the coming years. Experts believe the Chevy Blazer EV will have similarly strong demand, though, and will eventually move into second place with regard to EV crossover market share.
According to auto forecasting firm LMC Automotive, the Model Y will account for 15.6 percent of EV crossover market share by 2025 when including both compact and mid-size electric crossover models in one single segment. The Chevy Blazer EV will be second with an estimated market share of 6.6 percent, sharing the rest of the pie with an abundance of similar electric models like the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
A Reuters report that cited LMC Automotive’s forecasting did not say how much market share the Chevy Equinox EV is expected to hold. While smaller than the Blazer EV, the Equinox EV will be one of the most affordable electric crossovers on sale when it arrives for the 2024 model year, with prices expected to start at around $30,000. The Blazer EV will arrive before the Equinox EV, it’s worth noting, with production set to commence in mid-2023. The Equinox EV, meanwhile, will not begin rolling off the production line until later that year.
The Chevy Blazer SS will utilize the GM BEV3 platform, along with its Ultium battery technology and Ultium Drive electric motors. Preview images of the crossover show an angular, modern design that could be described as a heavy evolution of the current Blazer’s styling with more pronounced body lines and aggressive angles. GM has not yet shared an estimated price for the Chevy Blazer EV.

The Model Y looks remarkably better.
And it's considered the ugly Tesla.
Huh, the 3/Y/X are all ugly with a capital U. I've seen nothing in my lifetime as ugly as them, and that includes winners like the Aztec. gm will have to do much worse than the sketches of the blazer to get even close to how bad the teslas look. The S is the only thing they have ever produced that is a nice looker. The other factor that is in play is musk is moving from hero to villain. The twitter deal may expose many warts.
Ummm, nothing uglier? Only good looking Chevy's are the Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado (in some trims) and Traverse decent for what it is. Even the Corvette is beautiful but...(Who green lit the rear? the rest makes up for it but ugh).
Tesla is pounding GM in everything but cheap cars and production capabilities. It's astonishing how clueless GM has become.
Mr. Mike, when you consider exactly who is running GM and how she is a total Democrat kiss-up, it's not astonishing at all, but instead, typical. What is really astonishing, is that there has been no Stockholder revolt and demands for Barra's head on a platter.
billj598, EXACTLY!!!!!
Tesla just got a head start on manufacturing EVs.
But GM will pass them up. What's funny is this is all for naught.
EVs just pollute in a different way than gas.
And there's a lot more oil than there is Cobalt, Nickle, and other rare earths it takes to make the batteries. That's why they're called RARE earths. EV will only last as long as those materials hold out. They better come up with another solution or will be going back to gas at some point in time.
Better get your eyes checked Nate! I'm kidding, but also really have to commend Chevrolet for styling this thing like a futuristic version of the current gas powered Blazer. Oh and it's an SS riding on 24"s?!?! Probably looks better in person with excellent proportions. Coupled with their "Ultium Charge 360" network, GM is making EVs easily attainable for the masses who are open to the concept, especially when a new Bolt EV 1LT can now be had for roughly $25k or $219/mo lease right now. I think when Equinox EV goes on sale it will be much closer competitor to Model whY.
Yeah it doesn't look futuristic to me at all. Just a more gaudy looking Blazer with idiotic ports on the fenders.
They are chasing Toyota in the gills, slots, vents, creases, and geegaws race.
I don’t mind the fake vents on this, some Toyota’s bother me and are unnecessary. But I think it will be difficult for all manufacturers to make EV’s not look very EV like
It looks like a normal Chevy. That is the key to successful sales. Look at the F-150 Lightning . It is a normal Ford truck.
This is odd because the Blazer will be priced with the ID4 while the cheaper equinox should sell in higher numbers.
Doubt
We will see the Blazer EV next Monday , July 18th. The Model Y is too bland and reminds me of a fat toad on wheels.
Before ANYONE has the urge to buy one of these troublesome EV things, they would be wise to find and read the J.D. Power research report just released two days ago regarding the excessive pricing of any EV and, most importantly, how the real-life, real-time EV owners are reporting how many more problems per hundred vehicles are being encountered vs. vehicles, per hundred, powered by ICE. It's a shocking disparity that even includes TESLA in the results.
I expect the title to this article to be false.
The Equinox EV will outsell the Model Y and it looks a lot better than the Model Y and the Blazer EV. The Blazer EV looks really ugly to me. The Equinox EV looks absolutely gorgous. I just hope GM is ready to produce enough for the demand, that is the key to GM's success.
That is a nice Blazer EV but I guess it going to be sold at higher prices just as all the other electronic cars on the market so where am I going with this is that I am on the working class bracket and I can't afford these beautiful car at because they are for the middle and high class people and just trying know when it's the hard working class turn to injury a nice quick electronic car just the other people are. It's sad that the auto makers don't think about about us working class people at it's always about money.
