Update: GM just released a 2022 Chevy Cheyenne advertising video
Recently, GM Authority exclusively reported that the Chevy Silverado began the 2022 calendar year as Mexico’s best-selling full-size pickup – thanks to a healthy double-digit increase that allowed it to outperform all of its rivals. After this remarkable commercial feat, General Motors is preparing for the launch of the refreshed model as it debuts the new 2022 Chevy Cheyenne ZR2 in the Latin country.
The automaker has just introduced the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado in Mexico, showing off the all-new 2022 Chevy Cheyenne ZR2 to some local media before it goes on sale in the coming weeks. The off-road-focused 2022 Cheyenne ZR2 is the most striking addition to the full-size pickup’s mid-cycle enhancement, positioned as the model’s new trail-ready flagship.
Although GM did not make any kind of announcement, some media did have the opportunity to drive the new 2022 Chevy Cheyenne ZR2 before its imminent official presentation in Mexico scheduled for this spring. At the end of 2021, the automaker’s Mexican subsidiary stated that the refreshed Silverado and Cheyenne will arrive in the country in the second quarter of this year, shortly after the truck’s sales start in the US market.
Over the weekend, at least two Mexican media outlets had the opportunity to drive an early production unit of the new 2022 Chevy Cheyenne ZR2 painted in Northsky Blue Metallic. Although the unit does not yet include the definitive configuration of the Cheyenne ZR2 for the Mexican market, it does preview the nameplate’s most aggressive variant that will cost about 1,450,000 MXN or almost $70,000 USD at current exchange rates.
As usual, the refreshed Chevy Silverado will continue to be sold in Mexico with two nameplates: the entry-level Silverado that encompasses the Work Truck trim level, and the Cheyenne that includes the remaining trims. Based on the LT Trail Boss, the new flagship off-road pickup uses the Cheyenne ZR2 name, positioning itself above the LT, RST, Trail Boss, LTZ and High Country versions.
The new 2022 Chevy Cheyenne ZR2 and the other variants of the full-size pickup will go on sale in Mexico sometime in the second quarter of the year throughout the country’s Chevrolet dealer network. The truck units continue to be manufactured at the GM Silao plant, which began production of the refreshed model on February 21st.

Looks exactly like our Silverado here in the U.S.
I betcha if bought a Chevy truck in Mexico I could get it a lot quicker than in the U.S.??????
And yet you’d still complain incessantly that it was built in Mexico.
Needs a roll bar for the machine gun and federalies to hang on.
The ZR2 is sharp looking. Needs to have a supercharger on it!
I built one a week ago and it came out to $73K!! Insane for no more HP/TQ from last generation...oh wait since 2014!
I agree, a supercharger would be awesome on this thing! I’m considering getting one for my custom 2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD.
Edelbrock E-Force supercharger on my 04 GMC Sierra Denali 6.0 AWD
Quadrasteer truck was a no-brainer.
I’d like to know what’s taking so long to build a custom trail boss that I ordered in December and now both plants have started building the refreshed Silverado and I’m supposed to get the limited just don’t get it
Again....Who is going off road with the family to require a crew cab??????? Give us a double cab at least, or a single cab preferably!!!!!!!! Damn you guys suck!!!!
Nice truck but I would advise our friends to the South of the border to avoid selecting the white paint option as it may peel off in a year. Seriously.
Why is the paint more prone to peeling in Mexico vs US or Canada?
Nope, the white paint apparently doesn’t care which country that it peels in.
Hmmmm well shoot. I may or may not have ordered a white RST lol.
Wish they went with all black interior and saved the yellow and peanut butter for the gmc.....bad design choice
