Building a restomod is all about balance, and this 1966 Chevy Chevelle strikes the right chord with head-turning good looks, a fully customized interior, and 550 horsepower to boot. Now, we’re getting a ride thanks to the following video feature.
To make sure the 1966 Chevy Chevelle handled right, the builders started with a brand-new Roadster Shop SPEC chassis, which makes for a fantastic platform to build a modern muscle machine.
Of course, it’s also gotta make the right sounds and perform too, so to that end, the Chevelle was fitted with a brand-new LS3 V8. Upgrades include a new cam and a set of Ultimate headers, with output rated at an estimated 550 horsepower. Routing the muscle rearwards is a 4L75 transmission.
Popping the hood, we see the Chevy Chevelle looking might clean around the engine bay, with a new firewall and custom engine covers tagged with the Chevelle logo. The inner fenders are now wider and longer to accommodate the new chassis, but look factory, while the wires and hoses were tucked and shaved to keep it looking clean.
Speaking of looking clean, this Chevy Chevelle was sprayed in a factory GM paint color, what looks to be Shadow Gray, plucked from the mid-engine Chevy Corvette Stingray’s color palette. Custom touches like billet mirrors and billet door handles help to blend the look, while a set of subtle LED front lighting signatures keep it modern. In the corners, we spot Triumph Forged wheels with a brushed lip, multi-spoke design, and deep dish rears. Under the rollers is a set of Baer brakes, with 14-inch drilled and slotted rotors and six-piston calipers front to back.
The restomod goodness continues into the interior, which is swimming in red upholstery. There’s also a new billet dash treatment, while the seats were taken from a Lexus SC 430, then cut and chopped to fit properly.
