Customer Takes Delivery Of Hennessey Chevy Camaro ZL1 HPE850: Video

Right out of the box, the Chevy Camaro ZL1 is impressive, producing 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque thanks to the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 engine found under the hood. However, with just a few relatively minor upgrades, the ZL1 turns into an absolute monster – something Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) specializes in.

At this point, most GM Authority readers should be intimately familiar with Hennessey, but for those still drawing a blank, HPE is based out of Texas and is well-known for churning out high-powered tuner specials based on some of the quickest General Motors products around. That includes the Chevy Camaro ZL1, as featured in the following brief video.

Clocking in at a little over three minutes, this video shows a recently upgraded Chevy Camaro ZL1 convertible as it’s handed over to one very happy customer. The upgraded muscle car goes full throttle around Hennessey’s test track, demonstrating what a few engine mods can do for the LT4.

Making all that go is Hennessey’s HPE850 Engine Upgrade, which includes a new lower pulley, high-flow cylinder heads, a high-flow heat exchanger, an upgraded valvetrain, new lifters and push rods, a new intake, long-tube headers, a new cam, and a custom tune, all of which add up to a stout 850 horsepower at 6,300 rom and 860 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm.

Properly applied, Hennessey claims that the Chevy Camaro ZL1 HPE850 will sprint to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds, going on to complete the quarter mile in 10.4 seconds at 135 mph. Hennessey notes that these acceleration times were achieved using the optional rear drag radials on a prepped dragstrip.

Either way, this thing is quick, no doubt about it, so hit play on the video below and see it all go down for yourself.
