In the big, grand, and important world of the full-size pickup truck, numbers matter. Horsepower, torque, towing capacity, and price are a few numbers legions of Internet warriors carry with them into battle to decide which truck is the best. While it’s unlikely these keyboard knights in digital armor will persuade many to pick one truck over another, numbers do matter. That’s why things like payload capacity are essential to some consumers, especially those who have an actual need of loading their pickup to the max. And those looking to get the most out of their truck should look at the GMC Sierra with the GMC CarbonPro bed.
Not only does CarbonPro use a carbon fiber composite, the first of its kind in a pickup truck, but the composite bed cuts about 60 pounds from the vehicle’s mass. While that may improve fuel economy by a small margin, General Motors is giving most of that back in increased payload capacity. Depending on the configuration and equipment, 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 trucks with the CarbonPro bed could have a payload capacity that’s 59 pounds higher than the Sierra’s roll-formed steel bed.
For the sake of reference, here’s the current payload capacity for non-CarbonPro Bed Sierra trucks:

The increased cargo capacity is just one of the many advantages of the CarbonPro box, such as the pre-cut indentations at the front of the bed for hauling bikes and motorcycles, along with additional tie-down locations.
GMC will launch the CarbonPro bed as an option for the 2019 Sierra AT4 1500 and 2019 Sierra Denali 1500 on the special, limited-run model branded as the GMC Sierra CarbonPro Edition. After that, the unique carbon fiber bed will become available in more significant quantities on both trims for the 2020 GMC Sierra.

Any idea what the price is?
We seem to receive the same information regarding the carbonpro edition, over and over. Can't we get some real updates like cost & which dealers will carry? I've only found a couple dealers in south Florida indicating they plan to have a carbonpro edition. Is there a chance a client can order/configure a carbonpro for 2019? Some actionable info would be appreciated.
I'm excited over the new bed, but more for durability and the fact that it won't rust.
Payloads likely vary more than 59 pounds just based on options from one truck to the next.
I am slightly impressed that the standard crew cab 4wd is supposed to be over 2000 pounds, though I wonder if those actually exist or if it's only the most bare bone truck that never actually get built.
Still can't get over a single speed transfer case as standard equipment in a full size truck!
The 1500 Denali has a 2-speed Autotrac Transfer Case
Yes, I'm aware that they available, but they shouldn't be optional. Every other truck has a 2 speed standard. It's not part of the 4wd formual that they should have messed with.
