2019 GMC Sierra: First Teaser Image Surfaces

We are now less than one week away from the unveiling of the all-new 2019 GMC Sierra. And now, after various spy photos of the upcoming pickup truck, we have our first teaser image thanks to a tip from several GM Authority readers and GMC owners.

The teaser features a partial look at the front end of the all-new Sierra, complete with the C-shaped LED daytime running lights as well as full-LED headlamps. We also see a rather powerful front facia, a large GMC badge in the center of the grille, as well as an outline of the wing mirrors and a roof-mounted communications antenna on the driver’s side.

The hood of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 also features two prominent elevations running the length of the hood (longitudinally)

One thing that’s unclear from the teaser is whether the 2019 GMC Sierra will wear a different hood compared to its platform mate, the 2019 Silverado. The teaser image for the Sierra appears to show a bold hood with two prominent bulges at the front, although this could be the result of how the front end of the hood integrates with the grille. What we do know is that the design of the 2019 Sierra interior will be identical to that of the 2019 Silverado.

The all-new 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 will be revealed at a special event in Detroit on March 1st and GM Authority will be in attendance for the event to bring you live coverage. In the meantime, follow our GMC Sierra news coverage.

Hat tip to GM Authority reader Jeff.

  • The hood is clearly more like the present hood with a larger scoop that the Chevy never had.

Also expect the GMC hood dome that is a trademark of line full and mid sized.

Based on the mules the truck will only share the roof with the Chevy as all the other panels have different shapes on the GMC.

    • I always have to comment to the complainers complaining about the so called complainers. " People will never be happy" I should hope not. If people were happy, and were never driven to change we would be living in a cave, or riding horses. Brian I would like to know where in the history of pickups we should have stopped and just been happy, in your opinion?

      • It's one thing to understand progress but people complain to give themselves something to do.

The thing that bothers me tyhe most is the idea that manufactures build cars and trucks specificity for you. So they expect to fit them like a glove and have only the options they need.

What they fail to understand is that manufactures have to build cars and trucks to fit the smallest and largest of people and put options most perople want!

So yes at dome point people need to find a happy point

        • Sometimes with GM its hard, at least for me, to understand GM progress. So I would like the GM engineers, designers, Brian , or Scott3 your opinion. Now there are a lot of things a lot of people want. I myself are with the people who say GM is focusing on drivetrain stuff, reliability etc. I have driven 9 GM trucks only GM trucks 1st one bought a 62 Chevrolet truck for 400 dollars when I was 14. Most years improvements some years not. Now you can take this next part as a complaint if you want, but I would just like others opinions. Back when you didn't like the V8 automatic trans. you could still get the I6 4 speed until the V8 auto was main stream. Crank windows until electric was mainstream, Etc. Ok if they gave you air conditioning they did not take it away. You could get it with or without. NOT TRUE with 2007. Classic with rear A/C, new one without. Could you get it if you wanted it NO. O it will be good enough for you coming under the seat. You don't need those electric windows, V8, automatic transmission, tilt wheel , power steering, ETC. So I kept my old 2007 HD classic 10 years 140,000 miles to keep my rear A/C vents. Now I know I could have kept longer OR bought a Ford to get rear vents. But they are focusing on the stuff that counts. Are they ? My 2007 was at a dealer once in 10 years the first winter for a leaky transmission cooler line crimp. under warranty done. 2017 Denali HD first off in the summer I wanted the rear vents, second they are focusing on what matters, ARE YOU SURE. 1800 miles the headliner rattled behind the sunroof door, dealer stuffed foam up there, no more rattle. Now there is 3700 miles on the truck and 2 customer satisfaction letters and 1 recall. That is 4 trips to the or 4 items that need addressing 3700 miles. So there focusing on what? This is the real confusing one. The rear wheel hub could come loose because of a faulty nut retainer which is NOT a recall, but an emission reprogram IS a recall. So wouldn't you think the rear wheel hub coming loose is a little more important to the owner than the emission reprogram. NOW THIS IS WHAT GM NEEDS TO HERE if you buy this truck used and it is out of warranty you the owner will get a letter on the emission recall that does nothing to the truck but the wheel hub will come loose on you because you don't get a letter on that. Wouldn't you want to fix ALL the GM trucks out there with rear hub bearing nuts that could come loose if you know it is, or could be a problem. Opinion?

  • I think the new headlamps look good on this truck . And you get a glimps of the grill design in the picture and looks like it may be a Denali grill . , similar to the old Terrain grill .
Fog lights integrated into the bumper , and the hood looks like it does have a scoop in the center with accent lines that flow towards the top of the grill .
One thing I don't get is why the space on the front windows where the mirrors used to be are covered up with black plastic covers ? Why not open that up like the XT5 with glass so you don't have that small blind spot .
From what we can see thus far the truck looks okay , but getting the same interior as Silverado is not so good .
That is the place you spend all of your time , I don't want to buy a new Sierra and have a passenger with a new Silverado say " this looks just like mine " . Maybe there will be different door panels for Sierra .

  • The new Sierra will have some wood looking appliqué on the dash that will justify the price difference over the Silverado.

  • If the interior of the GMC is identical to the Chevy, that's going to be VERY disappointing especially after seeing the interior of the Ram....
