This week, Holden manufacturing will go offline for good, but the brand is hopeful for a fresh start with new product beginning to trickle into showrooms. Among the inbound crossovers and SUVs, Holden will bring the 2018 Commodore to market early next year and the brand showed the vehicle off to the public for the very first time recently.
Holden brought the 2018 Commodore VXR to the Motorclassica in Melbourne, Australia, where the public was able to check the car out in person for the very first time. It’s the first Commodore to be imported to Australia, though it’s not the first time it has German roots, however.
The 2018 Commodore VXR features a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 315 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque. Shifting duties are handed to a nine-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to an adaptive all-wheel-drive system.
Holden presented the 2018 Commodore alongside 27 other significant cars from its past at the Motorclassica including the first Holden ever produced, the 48/215, and several other Commodores.
Like the homemade Commodore, the imported ZB Commodore will arrive in multiple body styles. The sedan will join a Sportwagon and Tourer in 2018. Unfortunately, the Commodore ute dies with the VF Commodore Series II.
