Chevy Silverado Driver Makes Illegal Left-Hand Turn At The Worst Time: Video

A new viral video circulating social media captures the moment a Chevy Silverado driver makes an illegal left-hand turn, resulting in a collision with another vehicle.

The short video begins on what appears to be a clear, sunny day in Las Vegas, with dry, open roads ahead. The dash cam footage shows multiple lanes of traffic, with a line of cars waiting to turn in the designated left-turn lane near a four-way intersection. The dash cam driver proceeds through the intersection under a yellow light, traveling at a normal speed and without appearing to run the light.

Moments later, a white Chevy Silverado is seen entering the road from a shopping center to the right. Initially, the pickup moves into the lane adjacent to the dash cam vehicle. However, without warning, the Silverado driver is seen making an abrupt left turn, cutting across the path of the dash cam vehicle. The dash cam driver reacts quickly, slamming on the brakes, but there isn’t enough time to avoid the collision and the front end of the dash cam vehicle impacts the rear of the pickup.

The dash cam driver later posted the video with the following caption:

“Silverado truck coming out from the shopping center decides to cross over three lanes and a median to make an illegal left-hand turn and destroyed my beloved Prius Prime. He got out of his truck and asked me why I hit him.”

Some commenters argue that the Prius driver should have stopped at the yellow light, suggesting that proceeding through the intersection contributed to the crash. Others firmly place the blame on the Chevy Silverado driver, pointing out that the illegal turn across multiple traffic lanes and the median was clearly reckless and unlawful.

Watch the video for yourself and let us know your thoughts. Who do you think was at fault in this collision?

  6. Let off the gas as soon as you see the goofy truck driver and get ready to hit the brakes. Crash avoided. I bet the Prius was not paying attention.

  8. The traffic light had nothing to do with the accident. The truck switched lanes without a signal. And without yeilding to approaching traffic( Prius). End of story.

  9. Good try, how fast was the Prius going to clear the traffic light at a conjested intersection? Both are at fault!

  10. Guilty for driving a Prius.

  11. The issue of the traffic light is irrelevant. The Prius could’ve had a full green and it wouldn’t have changed anything. Defensive driving on both of their parts could’ve prevented an accident. In driving, you can never assume anything. If the truck driver were going to make a left turn, why didn’t he pull into the left lane to start with? It was probably a sudden, last second, decision to make a left turn and he didn’t check his mirrors or what was beside him. Maybe the Prius driver will know for next time that any vehicle pulling onto the street in the right lane doesn’t mean he’s going to stay in the right lane and he needs to be prepared for anything that could happen right in front of him, as in slowing his speed and ready to brake. The bottom line is the cause of this accident rests clearly on the truck driver. The Prius hit him because he pulled out right in front of the Prius without making sure he could do so safely.
