General Motors’ mobility brand, Maven, is on the move once again. After launching its Maven Gig service in San Diego, California, the brand is now packing up and heading to San Francisco, too.
Maven Gig champions and helps propel freelance workers—for better or worse—with the ability to provide transportation for an individual’s “side hustle,” if you will. Current partners include GrubHub, InstaCart and Roadie. Each is a fresh take on a traditional business.
The service lets freelancers reserve a 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV for $229 a week. However, Maven provides insurance, unlimited miles and free charging at EVgo stations for a limited time. The Chevrolet Cruze ($189 a week), Malibu ($199 a week) and Trax ($209 a week) round out gasoline-powered options for freelancers looking to take advantage of the service. Each price does not include tax, however.
The Bolt EV, in particular, has seen success through Maven’s various business facets. 20,000 miles have been covered by Maven’s fleet of Bolt EVs, a figure that has helped saved 750 gallons of gas combined.
Maven is confident the list of partners will continue to grow as the service fans out to other areas. Los Angeles is on deck for a Maven Gig launch later this year.
