2017 Cadillac Escalade ESV Gets New Colors, Revised Trim Levels, Rear Camera Mirror And More
Just like its shorter twin, the Cadillac Escalade ESV is the lucky recipient of a healthy amount of updates, changes and new features for the 2017 model year.
2017 Escalade ESV Exterior Changes
Starting on the outside, the 2017 Cadillac Escalade ESV loses four exterior colors while gaining two new ones:
Deleted Colors
Gray Silk Metallic
Majestic Plum Metallic
Dark Emerald Metallic
Terra Mocha Metallic
New Colors
Dark Adriatic Blue Metallic (available at extra charge; no additional charge on Platinum)
Bronze Dune Metallic (available at extra charge; no additional charge on Platinum)
In addition, the appearance of the capless fuel nozzle has been modified, and power-retractable assist steps are now standard on the Platinum trim level. Lastly, two sets of new wheel designs join the lineup:
22-inch 12-spoke polished aluminum wheels available on Luxury and Premium Luxury
22-inch 12-spoke flared aluminum alloy wheels (delayed availability; not available at start of production)
2017 Escalade ESV Interior Changes
The interior of the 2017 Cadillac Escalade ESV sees three major changes:
The headliner in the Tuscan Brown interior color combination changes from Shale to Jet Black, retaiing Nappa leather on the 1st and 2nd row seats and Provence leather on console and door trim. In addition, the Jet Black interior color combination on Platinum on the 1st and 2nd row seats change from Nappa leather to Opus leather, while the console and door inserts change to Opus leather.
The 4WD control knob is modified with new lighting indicators
The PRNDL is modified to PRNDM
In addition, the 2017 Escalade ESV sees the addition of the following LPO-level features:
All-weather floor liners for the 1st and 2nd rows with bright finish badge (not available at start of production)
All-weather floor liner for the 3rd row (not available at start of production)

The lion’s share of 2017 Escalade ESV changes and updates are to the full-size SUV’s technology.
Technolgoy Deletions
Native Pandora app, as Pandora is now offered through the Cadillac Collection app store
Ability to play videos on the infotainment screen from a front seat USB/SD card while in Park. This is as a result of accessibility and security requirements
The Rear Seat Entertainment system removes RCA jacks and SD card slot
New Technology Features
Cadillac CUE update to version 2.6 brings Collection and Teen Driver:
Collection allows users to easily browse, select and install apps that enhance your driving experience so it gets better every day. Using the vehicle’s touch screen, you can customize your content with music, audiobooks, weather and more.
Teen Driver is configurable feature that lets owners activate customizable vehicle settings associated with a key fob to encourage safe driving behavior. It can limit certain vehicle features, and it prevents certain safety systems from being turned off. An in-vehicle report provides owners information on teen’s driving habits, helping to continue to coach the new driver.
Front Automatic Braking (only on the Luxury trim level)
Automatic Park Assist
Rear Camera Mirror (not averrable on the base Escalade trim). The feature moves the OnStar buttons, which were previously located on the mirror, to the overhead console available
Updates to graphics for the cluster and Head-Up Display
Technology Changes
Adaptive cruise control: 5 mph increase or decrease with a press and hold; 1 mph increase or decrease with a quick press and release
Lane Keep Assist description changes to Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
Surround Vision feature has new soft keys to select front and rear views; the system will also be accessible in Park
Hard button control for power-retractable assist steps has been removed from the console and is now a soft button located within Cadillac CUE
Improvements to the Rear Seat Entertainment system:
HDMI/HML input
2nd USB port with 2.1 amp charging
Digital headphones and Wi-Fi capability via Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)
Improvements and changes to the Rear Seat Entertainment system on the Platinum trim level include:
4-channel headphones
Only offers 2 headphones instead of 4 headphones
2017 Escalade ESV Trim Level Changes
Like all other 2017 model year Cadillacs, the 2017 Escalade ESV sees the names of its trim levels synced up to Cadillac’s new trim level structure:
Standard 1SA renamed Escalade Trim Level, serving as the new name for the base trim level
Luxury Collection 1SB renamed Luxury 1SB
Premium Collection 1SC renamed Premium Luxury 1SC
In addition, the “Collection” modifier has been deleted for the Luxury and Premium trims.
Other 2017 Escalade ESV Changes
Moding switch: Shock Absorbing icon changed to “MODE” icon, and changed location on ICS
Moding switch: mode change now incorporates increased steering sensitivity, more aggressive transmission shift points and sportier suspension
Implementation of CVAA Act of 2010 for (U42) Rear Seat Entertainment: video accessibility for visually impaired
AC refrigerant changed from R134a to 1234yf
The 2017 model year represents the third year of the fourth-generation Cadillac Escalade, which we expect to be replaced by an all-new model in the 2018-2019 calendar year timeframe. We should also note that all of the aforementioned updates and changes mirror those of the regular-length 2017 Cadillac Escalade.
