GM Canada Purchases Toronto Real Estate For Seperate Cadillac Headquarters

Cadillac is keeping consistent with its strategy up north. General Motors Canada has announced the purchase of new office space in Toronto to house Cadillac separately from other brands in the country. It will also be home to the automaker’s Maven personal mobility brand in Canada, too.

The Globe and Mail reports the automaker has purchased a site on the eastern edge of downtown Toronto – currently occupied by a film studio. The site will also serve for research and development and a sales center will be created to focus on electric vehicles. The entire campus will go by the name of “The Toronto GM Mobility Campus.”

“It gives us the base we’re looking for to have General Motors re-enter downtown, but not in the traditional sense,” David Paterson, GM Canada’s vice-president of corporate and environmental affairs said Monday.

Part of the plans also include a dealership, but GM Canada alluded it will not be a typical experience.

“We’ll do something that suits the neighborhood, but it is part of the plan to have that,” Paterson said.

The site also sits close to a row of luxury automakers along the Don River and the Don Valley Parkway along the east side of Toronto’s downtown core. However, the competing marques will have some time before Cadillac and company invades; the full GM development will likely take years to through planning and approval.

Or how they are blowing India, or the only MFG to leave Russia. Or spending 200million on a soccer deal only to leave the market or......
