Opel Teases New Crossover For 2016 Geneva Motor Show

Opel has been a busy brand in 2016, and we’re only one month in. The brand has showed off its modern take on an Opel sports coupe in the new GT concept, which is will bring to the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, but the brand has something else in store, too.

Today, Opel CEO, Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann, tweeted to his personal Twitter account, “Last week, Opel revealed the #OpelGT Concept. Tomorrow, I will unveil our next #GIMS highlight. Guess what?!” The photo above accompanied the tweet.

Our first stab is the 2017 Opel Meriva, which will take on a decidedly more crossover look. Our second stab is an Opel Mokka facelift, but the sheetmetal looks much too large to be a Mokka, or Buick Encore for us Yanks.

The tall greenhouse lends itself to the spy shots we’ve seen of the new Meriva, too, which will still house plenty of room for passengers and cargo from its multi-purpose vehicle beginnings, to this latest crossover to, well, crossover.

Neumann’s language suggests there may be more lurking in the shadows for the 2016 Geneva Motor Show as well. He says “next” highlight, rather than “final” or “other.” We’ll have to wait and see what the brand has in store, but stay tuned tomorrow for the unveiling of this next vehicle.
