1986 Ford Mustang GT Beats With The Heart Of A Rival

If you’re a purist you may be looking at this 1986 Ford Mustang GT Convertible with a 6.0 LS swap and thinking that it’s a blasphemous disgrace. While we’re certain that it would get a few double-takes at the Holley LS Fest, we aren’t as opposed to the idea of LS-swapped Ford Mustangs. We’ve seen what another LS-swapped Mustang is capable of at the track, and we also can appreciate the time and work put into the completing such a build.

This LS motor has Hedman Headers, and is mated to a 700R4 transmission. To add some more excitement, a 100 hp shot of nitrous was added. There’s a load of goodies really; the seller’s description suggests that entire brake system is new, the whole suspension has been worked, a 6-point cage has been installed, a 2008 Mustang dash, a new top, some drag radials, and even more.

Oh, and let’s not forget the custom paint job, it’s “EVERYWHERE.”

The listing for this Mustang expired already, and when we last checked the highest bid was well under $6,000. Unfortunately for the seller, it doesn’t look like anyone is biting on the Frankenstein build. Would you ever buy such a vehicle? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.

  • I don't know about the rest of the country, but in my area, Fox bodies are everywhere and nearly every single one has a Chevrolet motor. I've even seen a Buick 455 in one.

  • Every single Fox body in your area, that's crazy.

The end of the day it's your car you can do what you want.

The problem is when your ready to sell it you lose resale. There are a few Chevy stangs in my area but most are Fords. The chevy ones are mostly chevy guys that need a good afortable platform to get down the track. The Camaro hasn't always been the sales leader, therefore the stangs have received a ton of aftermarket suport plus the rear ends you want.

I've seen Mitsubishi, Toyota 2Jz, Mopar, LS and even the old 350 SBC in a Fox.
I'd like to get a notch back, and build a solid 351 Windsor. It's hard to beat the swap.

My 86 GT is all stock and I like it, every one thinks I'm crazy for having a stock 5.0 even if I had a worked notch I'd probobly keep the GT. I always wanted a Fox body in high school and now finally I have one, the sound of the 302 brings me back. I'd hate to loose that.
