No. 03 CTS-V.R Cadillac Racing driver Johnny O’Connell continues to dominates Detroit’s Belle Isle with his fourth victory in five races this morning in Pirelli World Challenge GT class action. Not only that, but the Southerner set a new track record for the PWC GT class. More impressively, the Cadillac CTS-V.R isn’t the lighter, faster GT3-spec FIA race cars that the Audis and McLarens are, putting the veteran racer under a major handicap.
Meanwhile, No. 08 CTS-V.R driver Andy Pilgrim finished at the back of the pack, battling brake issues. But he can’t dwell on the fault, and O’Connell can’t celebrate for too long, as the second race of PWC’s Belle Isle action takes place tomorrow morning.
