Reports indicate that General Motors is moving to expand its Lansing Grand River Assembly plant to make room for the next-generation, 2015/2016 Chevrolet Camaro, set to be underpinned by the automaker’s new Alpha platform, an architecture that made its debut in the Cadillac ATS and will be soon followed by the larger, third-generation 2014 CTS. The addition of the Camaro to Lansing Grand River means that all three vehicles will be assembled under one roof.
To properly accommodate another vehicle such as the Camaro — which will move from its current assembly point in Oshawa, Ontario — GM is looking at possibly injecting $38 million into the Lansing Grand River plant, which will be spent on facility upgrades and adding as many as 150 new jobs.
Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero stated the information in a news release, and he — along with The Lansing City Council will address GM’s tax abatement request at a meeting this Monday. The expansion could inject as much as $1.7 million in extra taxes into the local economy over the next 12 years. If all goes well, GM will embark on the project as soon as July, with expectations to be completed by 2015.
Lansing Grand River already employs 1,643 workers, and has seen $178 million in upgrades since 2010.

Please, there has to be a better picture of the 2015/2016 Camaro out there. This thing from C&D is hideous!
If this is what the next gen will look like they should just save their money.
I beg GM not to make the next Camaro look like the CODE 130r concept car. The concept car was fine as a competitor against the Toyota-Subaru twins, but it's definitely not an all American muscle car.
What are the (insert your own words) people at Car and Driver on when they decided to go with this rendering? It's just plain awful.
they say retro is over now, see what the next gen mustang looks like ( no more retro), retro started with the pt cruiser and the big three all did a few ( cars and trucks), I have a new camaro, very retro and i like it, but I can see the next gen of cars being new age not retro. but i hope the new camaro looks a little better than this pic.
"Retro" wasn't launched with the PT Crusier, but with the New Beetle of 1997.
What was HOT will be COLD.
