The NASCAR Chevy Truck Series teams spent the race at Pocono on July 12th, 2024 chasing the No. 11 Toyota TRD Tundra of Corey Heim to the finish, but couldn’t quite catch him at the line.
Rain wreaked havoc at the “Tricky Triangle” on Friday night, soaking Turn 2 before a caution was thrown to bring the trucks down to a safe speed. After returning to Pit Road for 10 minutes to wait out the storm, the field was turned back out on track – only to be halted one lap later as the storm picked back up, cutting the race three laps short and eliminating the NASCAR Chevy drivers’ hopes of catching Heim.
Grant Enfinger, driver of the No. 9 Chevy Silverado RST, was credited with the runner-up position, followed by Christian Eckes, driver of the No. 19 Silverado, rounded out third place. In fact, Enfinger’s second-place finish matches his best result of the year, which he earned during the division’s run at North Wilkesboro. He is currently in seventh place in the point standings with two races before the Playoffs begin.
Meanwhile, Eckes earned the pole position and led the first 11 laps, but was hurt by a slow pit stop during the Stage 2 break took him out of the lead and forced him to restart 10th. While he was able to gain six spots in just four laps and ultimately rallied back to third by the time the race was called. In doing so, he earned his 12th top-10 finish in a row. Eckes continues to lead the championship, 32 points ahead of the second-place Heim.
