Next-Gen 2024 Chevy Traverse To Offer Midnight And Sport Edition Packages

The 2024 Chevy Traverse is set to usher in the third generation of the crossover nameplate after GM pulled the sheets on the new model year back in summer 2023. Orders for the 2024 Traverse are open as of December 14th, though the Traverse Limited was already available to order as it temporarily continues the second generation.

Now, GM Authority has learned the 2024 Chevy Traverse will continue to offer the Midnight Edition (RPO code WUU) and Sport Edition (RPO code WUU) packages, which were also offered on the second-gen crossover.

Both of the packages are available on the LS and LT trim levels of the 2024 Chevy Traverse. The contents of both the Midnight Edition and Sport Edition packages include the following (RPO codes in parenthesis):

  • Black grille with unique finish
  • Chevrolet Black Bow Ties
  • Black nameplate, plus AWD badge on AWD models
  • High gloss Black door upper and low gloss Black belt moldings (BSW)
  • 20-inch High Gloss Black painted aluminum wheels (SLV)
  • 255/55R20 all-season blackwall tires (Q3N)

The Midnight Edition is available exclusively with Mosaic Black Metallic (paint code GB8) paint. The Sport Edition is available with all other exterior colors (relevant paint codes in parenthesis):

  • Harvest Bronze Metallic (GXN) (not available on LS)
  • Iridescent Pearl Tricoat (G1W) (not available on LS)
  • Lakeshore Blue Metallic (GXP)
  • Radiant Red Tintcoat (GNT) (not available on LS)
  • Stardust Metallic (GXK) (not available on LS)
  • Sterling Gray Metallic (GXD)
  • Summit White (GAZ)

In practice, this means that the Sport Edition is available with all colors when chosen on the LT trim, but on the base LS trim, it can only be chosen with Lakeshore Blue Metallic (GXP), Sterling Gray Metallic (GXD), and Summit White (GAZ) exterior paint.

Pictures of the Midnight Edition and Sport Edition on the 2024 Chevy Traverse are currently available, but both packages will be priced at $1,785.

As a reminder, the all-new 2024 Chevy Traverse gets a new, tougher-looking, truck-inspired exterior and an overhauled interior. The Chevy Safety Assist package (RPO code PED) is equipped as standard.

Under the hood, the third-gen Traverse cradles the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine developing a GM-rated 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. Shifts are accomplished with a GM eight-speed transmission connected to standard front-wheel or optional all-wheel drivetrains.

The 2024 Traverse uses a revised version of the long-wheelbase variant of the GM C1 platform for structure and includes the Global B digital architecture. Production will kick off in early 2024 at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

  • Looks good but seems underpowered. My daughter has a 2016 with the 3.6 and it’s been bulletproof. Still runs great with 120k miles.

    • Carl, the new 2.5L engine puts out 330hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. A 7% increase over your daughters outgoing 3.6L.

  • I would rather keep the 1800 bucks and have a better looking vehicle that doesn't look like it's rolling around on 4 junkyard spare tires. They need to have a proper high end luxury model like the outgoing version as the blacked out RS is no range topper even if it has more electronic junk thrown in!
