When it comes to off-roaders, GMC has a lot to offer, especially with the AT4X sub-brand. However, not every GMC model offers an AT4X trim level, and that includes the GMC Acadia crossover. As such, we’re taking it upon ourselves to imagine what a potential GMC Acadia AT4X might look like with the following exclusive GM Authority rendering.
From the off, we should mention that, for now at least, GM has no known plans to actually release a new GMC Acadia AT4X. Instead, we made this rendering just to see what such a thing might look like. What’s more, we also should mention that our rendering is based on the outgoing second-gen GMC Acadia, while the soon-to-be-released all-new third-gen Acadia will differ quite a bit from the outgoing model, even growing in exterior dimensions to once again slot into the full-size segment.
Nevertheless, it’s interesting to see what a second-gen GMC Acadia AT4X could look like. As expected, the crossover is decked out with a variety of off-road-ready upgrades and equipment, starting with a new safari bar mounted up front. The safari bar is complemented by bumper-mounted trail lights, which replace the standard model’s fog lights, while a set of red tow hooks are seen lower in the front bumper. The bumper also incorporates a winch.
Moving into the flanks of our GMC Acadia AT4X rendering, the black fender arches are enhanced with a set of orange marker lights, while some robust rocker protection is mounted between a new set of wheels. Speaking of the rollers, we added a set of beadlock-capable units wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler rubber. Up top, there are roof rail crossbars to enhance the practicality just a bit more.
Final touches include extensive AT4X badging, which is added to the front end, the doors, and the rear hatch.
All told, we think this second-gen GMC Acadia AT4X looks great, and it would likely back its off-road attitude with plenty of rough-stuff capability to boot. Perhaps GM will consider a similar treatment for the full-size third-gen model sometime in the future.

People in Broncos, Wranglers and 4Runners would laugh their a off. Get a clue, GM. Look how those models sell and how much profit they make. Not everyone wants an EV, nor a FWD crossover.
Just build a rugged SUV from the Colorado/Canyon that can tow. It’s so simple but beyond GM product planners who keep giving us neutered crossovers.
