Chevy was ranked low among mass market brands in the recent J.D. Power 2023 Mexico Sales Satisfaction Index Study, sliding in at eighth among 13 mass market brands studied.
Now in its tenth year, the J.D. Power Mexico Sales Satisfaction Index Study examines customer satisfaction with new-vehicle purchases based on six weighted metrics. Automotive brands studied are broken into mass market brands and premium brands.
The latest 2023 study is based on evaluations from 3,263 buyers in Mexico considering a new vehicle between the 2021 and 2023 model years. Evaluations were collected after one to 12 months of ownership, and the study was fielded between October of the 2022 calendar year and February of the 2023 calendar year.
These evaluations were then used to compute a numeric satisfaction score via six weighted metrics. These metrics include (weighted percentage included in parentheses): delivery process (27 percent); dealer personnel (25 percent); facility (16 percent); working out the deal (13 percent); paperwork (12 percent); and brand website (7 percent). Each brand studied was then given a numeric score based on a 1,000-point scale, with a higher score indicating greater customer satisfaction.
According to the latest J.D. Power 2023 Mexico Sales Satisfaction Index Study, Chevy ranked eighth in the mass market segment with a score of 872 points. The segment average was 874 points. The top-ranked brand in the mass market segment was Honda with 902 points, followed by MG Motor with 894 points and Toyota with 880 points. Ford was fourth with 878 points. Renault was the lowest-ranked brand in the segment with 843 points.
The latest 2023 study also indicates that satisfaction with the sales delivery process across the auto industry declined to 893 points from 897 points a year prior, with the promised delivery day and time met only 88 percent of the time, down from 90 percent a year ago.
