GMC Yukon Power-Sliding Console Unavailable Throughout 2022 Model Year

The available power-sliding center console offered on the GMC Yukon and GMC Yukon XL full-size SUVs will remain unavailable for the duration of the 2022 model year, GM Authority can confirm.

GM has not confirmed the reason behind this change, only saying it’s due to a supplier shortage. However, it could be indirectly related to semiconductor chip shortage, at a time when the automaker has been removing certain features from its vehicles to cut back on the number of chips it uses per unit, allowing it to keep production up and running even the chip shortage persists.

GM Authority reported earlier this month that the power sliding center console had been temporarily removed from the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL order books. At the time, it wasn’t clear how long the feature would remain absent from the vehicles’ order books, though we can now confirm it won’t return any point during the 2022 model year. The same applies to the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, as we mentioned in a separate article.

The full official name of the power-sliding center console feature being removed is “power-sliding center floor console with drawer, secure storage, manual sliding armrest and cup holders for second row.” The feature is tagged with RPO code DCH and was previously offered as a $350 option for 2022 GMC Yukon SLT and AT4 trim levels. In order to equip it, customers must also have selected the SLT Luxury Package (RPO WPL, $2,030) and power-release second row bucket seats (RPO ATN, $370) for SLT trims, and the power-release second row bucket seats (RPOATN, $370) for AT4 trims.

Additionally, the power sliding center console feature was also standard on Denali trim levels. It will now be replaced by the conventional floor console with storage area and removable storage tray, which means Denali customers will receive a $350 credit.

As of this writing, the power-sliding center console will not be added to the GMC Yukon or Yukon XL order books until the start of the production of the 2023MY.

  • So GM is busy planning and designing 6 figure EV’s while letting their most popular models suffer from poor planning, design and support??? Seems legit……

    • Yes GM, go back to designing 70s era gas guzzling beasts with no computer chips to make your fans happy. We don’t want you moving forward, designing new and exciting products, WE WANT DINOSAURS!

  • I have one of these on order. If GM can't provide what they advertised they could a few short weeks ago, I think I'll just cancel.

  • Seems that’s the new thing with GM, keep talking about features and options that’s not available then blame the chip shortage.
