The Rivian R1T electric pickup, along with the closely related Rivian R1S SUV, have received official estimated range figures from the Environmental Protection Agency.
The 2022 Rivian R1T has an EPA-estimated driving range of 314 miles. The truck gets about 66 MPGe highway and 74 MPGe city for a combined rating of 70 MPGe. The EPA estimates R1T owners will pay $950 in annual “fuel” costs.
The Rivian R1S, meanwhile, has an EPA-estimated driving range of 314 miles. The truck gets about 65 MPGe highway and 73 MPGe city for a combined rating of 69 MPGe. Just like the R1T, Rivian R1S owners can expect to pay $950 in annual fuel costs.
These estimated range figures are for vehicles equipped with the mid-range 135 kWh battery. The 105 kWh battery, which carries late availability status, should give the vehicles about 230 miles of range. Rivian will eventually release a 180 kWh long-range battery, as well, which should give both the R1T and R1S over 400 miles of range.
Rivian, headquartered in Irvine, CA, will produce the R1T and the R1S at its production plant in Normal, Illinois, with deliveries set to commence in January of 2022. The R1T and R1S will be offered as direct rivals to the GMC Hummer EV pickup and GMC Hummer EV SUV, respectively.
The R1T and R1S Launch Edition models will come standard with a quad-motor powertrain producing 835 horsepower and 908 pound-feet of torque, enabling the heavy, full-size EVs to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in three seconds flat. Standard equipment includes a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a huge 15.6-inch infotainment display with navigation, a rear 6.8-inch rear seat console screen, a wireless charging pad and an onboard air compressor.
While Rivian is a new player in the automotive space, it has very strong financial backing. The company raised $2.65 billion in a funding round held early this year, which came from big names like T. Rowe Price Associates Inc., Fidelity Management and Research Company, Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund, and D1 Capital Partners. Rivian is valued at an estimated $27.6 billion.

i thought rivian's valuation is closer to $80BN.
we'll know when their ipo comes out but at that number, wall street thinks they are worth as much as gm.
No, it’s 80 trillion.
They're not direct competitors to the Hummer at all. They're significantly smaller. Somewhere in between a Canyon and Honda Ridgeline in size. The cab might be as large as a Canyon/Colorado Crew Cab, but the box is almost a whole foot shorter. Price wise, yes they compete with the Hummer, but size and capability wise not so much.
Rivian will vastly outsell HummerEv, as it appeals to a broader segment of the market.
I thought it was between a Ranger and a 150. But I never checked the Ridgeline. It should fit in my garage nicely. The Cyber truck might be too big to fit though.
I think the Rivian is going to beat the HummerEV in a drag race... Will be a fun one to see..
Those vertical oval headlight pods are ghastly, ruining an otherwise really good looking vehicle.
Ya, not my favorite headlights either, but that is the Rivian signature.
Headlight design brings to mind Little Orphan Annie.
Left side of the dash looks like the LYRIQ grille. Not good for Cadillac.
I'm not a huge fan of the robocop front end, but the suv is pretty legit. What's it's competition? The bolt euv ? Hyundai? The truck on the other hand looks like it's pretty useless as a truck. It appears as though it's competing with the Subaru baja for utility. Unimpressive!
Clearly rivian isn't going after big three truck buyers, but I think their suv has a real shot.
where is the SEC? Talk about collusion at the top...I thought Biden was going to put an end to the "rich wall street collusion" at the top. Look at RIVN. Fake. on 11/10 the stock begins. all car magazines before 11/10 thought so much about this company and "you get in on the ground floor" with this new EV cars coming. Then the stock takes off from 11/10 to 11/15..then all the "multi-millionaires and billionaires" pull out of the stock after only 6 days!..then the stock crashes. then 2 days later Ford announces that their partnership with RIVN is suddenly over. What a lie and a joke. Someone or some people knew what was coming and got their money and got out! Where is the SEC? Where is BIden? Remember the movie TOWER HEIST?....what a scam and stock market joke...There probaly is no RIVN or LUCID or Fisker,...
