Cadillac CT6-V Preorders Opened This Week

General Motors opened up preorders for the new 2019 Cadillac CT6-V this week.

The CT6-V will be produced for just one full model year, with GM electing to kill off the CT6 by mid year. That means availability is restricted. Preorders were limited to just 275 units and GM says it sold out in minutes. The first deliveries for the vehicle are expected to commence in mid-2019.

Cadillac president Steve Carlisle alluded to the CT6-V’s short production run in an official statement and promised Cadillac fans the brand will continue to offer performance vehicles.

“The 2019 CT6-V marks the expansion of the V-Series sub-brand and is the proof point of Cadillac’s commitment to build high-performance vehicles as we continue our product offensive,” said Carlisle said. “Fans of Cadillac will see high-performance variants across our portfolio.”

Powering the CT6-V is Cadillac’s new 4.2-liter twin-turbocharged ‘Blackwing’ V8, which is rated at 550 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. The automaker says the output is subject to change, though, as it is still undergoing SAE certification. For this reason, GM has yet to provide performance figures for the CT6-V.

Pricing for the latest addition to the V-Performance brand will start at $88,790. It’s not yet clear what sort of equipment will be offered on the base-level trim, nor how expensive the CT6-V could become if you were to load it up with options. That price also nets you a two-day driving course hosted by Cadillac at the always awesome Spring Mountain Motor Resort in Pahrump, Nevada.

GM announced it would halt production of the Cadillac CT6 late last year as part of a wide-reaching corporate overhaul. It also killed off five other slow selling vehicles at the same time with the hopes of improving profit margins, including the Cadillac XTS, Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Volt.
