Chevrolet will usher the 2018 Tahoe Rally Sport Truck (RST) to dealers this fall in the United States, but the SUV will make its way to the Middle East next month. Chevrolet Middle East says customers in the region expressed heightened interest for the model and it will gauge overall interest at the auto show.
The 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe RST packs the 6.2L L86 V8 engine, with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, GM’s new 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission and a specifically-tuned Magnetic Ride Control suspension when customers select the RST Performance Package. If not, the RST Package itself adds 22-inch wheels wrapped in Bridgestone P285/45R tires, high-performance brakes, a Borla exhaust and other small details.
With both packages, Chevrolet says the performance SUV will scoot from 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds. That’s no small task for an SUV that weighs 5,600 pounds.
The Dubai Auto Show opens on November 14. We have a feeling the Middle East’s reaction will be quite positive to the performance SUV.

Needs a center console shift and steering wheel paddles.
I don't think "need" is the term. That's a preference. I actually like the column shift. I'd like paddle shift on the steering wheel with it. I run a '16 Expedition right now. I'm a big fan, but the chinzy plastic and trim of the center console shifter, even in King Ranch trim, doesn't add anything to the experience.

I had a 97' 2 door Tahoe and now have an 08' Tahoe Hybrid and LOVE IT! Going to get the RST 6.2L when it's available. I wish there was a factory super charger option for say, 650HP. I know you can add one, but I'd rather have a factory installed system. Going from 355HP to 420HP is nice, but maybe 475 would have been the sweet spot. IMO. I'll see what I can add, but I don't want any issues with warranty, emissions and something breaking due to the extra HP. Also eyeing the Jeep Trackhawk, but it's so much smaller than my Tahoe. Then again, 707HP might tempt me. :) Let's see which truck makes it to the lots first.
@Brian,i couldn't have said it any better.Except the switching of vehicles brands.I'd like to see Suburbans & Tahoes come from the factory SuperCharged.An even matching hp to torque split would be nice 700hp/700 lb ft torque.Plus Awd option or as standard.
Always been a Pick Up Truck guy but now that you can get a 6.2 with a 10 speed in a Tahoe, I’d consider one. Agree that there is room for a super performance edition - All Wheel Drive 650 HP would be bad @$$
I have had 4 new GMC and Chevy Suburban's since 1996. I dove each one of them for over 200,000 miles before getting the next one.
I still do not understand why for the price, that they do not offer a rear window in the tail gate that would go down for ventilation. also the send row of bucket seats should be able to slide back like the front seat. Would be very nice when the 3rd row is not being used.
Hey everyone, I just got back from the dealership here in the Seattle area and ordered the RST Premium with Performance Package. Chevrolet just started to make available the Performance Package which I was waiting for. I wanted to make a few comments based on my conversation with the dealer and my experience in speaking with folks from Chevy from the last auto show here in Seattle. Evidently I will have 1 of the 2 first models in the State.
The RST Performance is just slightly lowered to for better center of gravity and the Magnetic Ride Control tweaking works really well in stabilizing high speed cornering (no lean relative to "typical" Tahoe models). I actually purchased the Summit White model and added the Borla high performance exhaust which am told will add 10HP to this 6.2L engine. I am thinking about adding an aftermarket K&N Cold Air intake for around $600 which would bring total HP from 420 to about 445 (with Exhaust + Intake+Filter). This should add some noticeable performance. I drove a standard 5.3L Premium and the engine performance felt strong but needless to say definitely not inspired so I'm really looking forward to this new model.
FYI, Costco has a special Holiday deal right now with their Auto program where they will give you an extra $300-$700 in addition to their pricing. I found the pricing to be good considering RST is a special edition model (I saw it's about $1K over Employee pricing which they had for closeout 2017 models). I negotiated adding the Borla Exhaust at Cost.
After I take possession on December 18 I'm going to put it through it's paces and will make another post. For those interested in purchasing I can give you my 2 cents worth.

I'm really happy with it. Tons of low power grunt and the exhaust sounds great. I took some high speed turns and was impressed at the lack of body roll, so the new suspension is doing a good job. Everything is well put together and the tech features work well. The auto-braking system I noticed was pretty aggressive but can be turned off. I spun the tires in 2WD at a 10 MPH rolling start which was damned impressive. GM offered some great incentives so I'm not unhappy with spending the money.
