In Canada, the Sonic recorded 383 deliveries in December 2016, an increase of 27 percent compared to December 2015. During the 2016 calendar year, Sonic sales decreased 23.6 percent to 4,404 units in Canada.

The Chevy Sonic appears to continue to fall victim to America’s ravenous hunger for crossovers, despite being a segment-leading family of vehicles. As such, we expect Sonic sales to continue sliding, while Chevy crossover sales such as the Trax, Equinox, and Traverse continue to increase.

This is sad. The sonic is a great little car. I've driven several and had the occasion to toss around an RS. What was too bad for the RS in my opinion was the chassis was too good for the 1.4t. It felt as though it it could easily handle 30 to 50 more horsepower. If only Chevrolet would offer true performance variants rather than appearance packages to models not named Camaro, or Corvette. I know it probably wouldn't sell in the thousands each month but if Chevy made a Fiesta ST fighter, but it may keep the sub compact customer from crossing the street to the Ford dealer. Some people want basic transportation which is fine and the Sonic handles that role wonderfully, but why not try and woo the commuter that also wants to have some fun with their hot hatch from time to time. Ford does it with the Fiesta ST and Focus RS, Hyundai with the Veloster Turbo, and Kia with the Forte SX all with near or more than 200hp for around the same price as the RS package that has the show but no extra go. It's just too bad it performance isn't an option for most of Chevy's line-up.
