Maven has taken a new step in providing transportation, and it sort of crosses enemy lines. Maven does not currently participate in ride sharing particularly, but it will be happy to lease Uber drivers a vehicle through its car sharing program.
General Motors announced today it will lease Maven vehicles to Uber drivers through a new, flexible program called “Uber Vehicle Solutions.” The program will launch as a 90-day pilot in the San Francisco area.
Vehicles participating in the pilot program include the Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Malibu and Chevrolet Trax. For $179 a week, Uber drivers can get to work in a new vehicle with insurance covered.
“This is the latest in our efforts to provide driver partners with greater flexibility and more options to access vehicles in a way that works for them. This partnership with Maven combines our vast ridesharing network with GM’s extensive fleet vehicles and gives people without access to a car the ability to easily make money driving on the Uber platform,” said Rachel Holt, regional general manager, United States and Canada.
Maven most recently opened for business in Los Angeles, California, and the car sharing network shows no signs of slowing down.
