Chevrolet Plans On 20 New Vehicles In China By 2020

Chevrolet affirmed its strength and position in the Chinese marketplace and announced it has plans to bring 20 new models to China by the year 2020.

“Chevrolet will continue to strengthen the best model lineup in the brand’s history in China,” said Alan Batey, president of GM North America and head of Global Chevrolet. “In the coming years, we will roll out breakthrough products with technologies that improve safety, performance and fuel efficiency for our customers.”

The brand stated nearly 30 percent of the inbound vehicles will be crossover SUVs and about half of them will be all-new nameplates for the market. Continuing with vague details, Chevrolet also said advanced propulsion methods will be employed including small-displacement turbocharged engines, diesel engines, and hybrid and plug-in hybrid electric technology.

Most of the new vehicles will be manufactured and assembled locally by GM’s SAIC-GM joint venture and many will be tailored for the domestic market by its Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC) joint venture.

Chevrolet has been offered in China since 2005 and has seen tremendous growth. Last year, Chevrolet sold its four millionth vehicle.
