General Motors Files Trademark Application For ‘Join The Driverless Revolution’

General Motors has filed an application to register Join The Driverless Revolution as a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), GM Authority has discovered.

The automaker’s August 1st, 2016 application is assigned serial number 87123074 and specifies that the mark will be used to name “Computer software for the autonomous driving of motor vehicles”.

The GM Authority Take

It’s fairly clear that the Join The Driverless Revolution trademark app is intended for use in conjunction with GM’s upcoming Super Cruise autonomous vehicle technology, or whatever potentially separate product/service that could come as a result of the automaker’s acquisition of Cruise Automation. Another possibility is that GM is planning to use the mark in conjunction with the autonomous vehicle it will provide Lyft.

Either way, we can all agree that this application is definitely related to autonomous vehicles.
