  • The headline says grow, it should read "falls".

It will be interesting to see if the new Acadia will cause sales to increase a ton for July and August.

    • Thanks Jason -- the headline is now fixed.

As for the new Acadia, I don't think that it will see much of an increase until dealers have a nice inventory base... which currently isn't the case but will become increasingly so in the next 1.5-2 months.

  • No one should be shocked. GM in general is launching a new generation of SUVs right as it pulls back on rental fleet. Without incentives, GM will see declines for the foreseeable future and this is an expected and not unhealthy thing during a time of transition.

  • Yes the cut in fleet sales and new product will put things in a decline in volume for a little while.

I think how you have seen sales increasing in Canada is a better reflection of how the real sales are as GM is not cutting fleet sales there. Generally their numbers and ours are close.

So not expect sales to make a big jump for a little while till they clear off the fleet sales off the books and the new models generally take 6 months or more to fill in with the soft starts of production that we have seen.

Often the soft starts have limited the types of models available and also the volume is for sure lower as they try to integrate all options with as little quality issues as possible.

GM is working hard to eliminate the don't buy the first year stigma.

Also prices on the first models with limited supply are generally higher. Dealers are less inclined to deal when they know you are not going to get one down the street with constricted supplies.

    • No they are not cutting fleet sales there as they really do little or no fleet sales in Canada.

Like I stated their sales represent more of what is going on in general sales because they do not show a cut in fleet sales.

It will take time to clear the Fleet issue. These are shown in percentage vs last month and last year and represent much different sales saturation patterns. Compare this month to next July and you will find it will be up again.

Note too if you compare profits they will be up again for the month and quarter. Again.

        • No it is more that you are generally are so off base so it is hard to discern a joke from what you normally perceive as reality.

          • Felicia -- don't blame your inability to perceive light on anything but the darkness within what's left of your souless heart.

          • No I am done.

"Don't answer the foolish arguments of fools, or you will become as foolish as they are"

But there are times one must

"Answer a fool according to his folly or he will be wise in his own eyes."
