Climb Aboard For Our Hot Lap Of The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1: Video

During our drive of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 2.0T, which you can read about here, the brand had a little surprise for guests invited to the drive. The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 arrived in prototype guise ahead of its official debut at the 2016 New York International Auto Show.

And we got to ride in it.

Our very own Manoli Katakis strapped in with Chevrolet engineer Aaron Link for a hot lap of Spring Mountain. This particular 2017 Camaro ZL1 was equipped with the six-speed manual gearbox with active rev-matching, making delightful noises as Link downshifted ahead of corners.

So, the car. If you couldn’t tell, it’s a beast. It’s fast, it’s planted and it really should put the world on notice. This isn’t your father’s, or your grandfather’s, Chevrolet Camaro.

    • vic1212,

I'd venture to guess there are smiles hiding behind his helmet, but I won't speak for him. Haha!

      Cheers,

  • Maybe if mark reuss was driving haha. I know a few people like saabkyle04 had excitement shown on their vid for sure... But again those are the one with the 10 speed prototype though

    • Riding with Mark or Dan would have been an awesome story. But Aaron Link is the faster driver. The guy could be an international racing driver but he's overqualified.

  • Is the supercharger whine as loud in person as it is in videos? That sound is intoxicating! Must be real cool for this to be your job! Im in the wrong business.

  • finally its here, this is awesome. so excited. when will it be available to order? Chevrolet.com needs to update their website I look on there everyday to see if its even mentioned. The 1le is not even on the website. the z28 2015 and the zl1 2015 is still on there, and the dealers say they no longer can order them. I wonder what the pricing will be for the zl1 2017, hopefully a little lower than the 2015.
