Here’s a bit of good news for GM fans living in the UK. General Motors has vowed to offer a full model lineup of Cadillac vehicles in Europe, including diesel and right-hand drive models, according to Autocar.
This isn’t just some half-cooked rumor, either; it’s straight from the mouth of GM President Dan Ammann.
According to the exec, the brand is contemplating a new approach in Europe, one that would see Cadillac take advantage of its niche status by employing “exceptional service.”
He also confirmed our long-held assertion that Cadillac will add a new flagship model slotted above the incoming 2016 CT6 to take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-class, as well as the long-wheelbase Audi A8 and BMW 7 Series models. Consequently, it’s expected to be larger and even more lavish than the CT6.
The brand currently has just one single outlet in the UK (located in Surrey), and it sells the ATS, CTS, SRX, and Escalade, according to the British magazine.
As mentioned before, don’t expect Cadillac to storm the UK overnight. The brand will first build momentum here at home and firmly establish its new identity as a new business unit (mostly) separate from GM before it makes a deeper mark in the UK.
All of that said, we hope to see more right-hand-drive models from General Motors. Especially Chevrolet models.

I think Cadillac would be better off focusing on the quality of its products and service in the US before expanding into Europe. Particularly its service...it needs to be overhauled and upgraded.
Frank you need to note that the revamp is well on the way already.
Johan just took over last year and has well defined that Cadillac will replace and upgrade everything including the present cars.
As the story states this will not happen overnight. The first of the moves will felt in 2017.
RHD is a must if the contend to be a global leader.
Might not to this will open the door for the Camaro too.
Cadillac has been there with RHD several times before ... in the early 90's with the STS, and the early 00's with the CTS, SRX and abject BLS.
Both attempts crashed and burned. People have very long memories. Spending £40,000+ ($60,000) on a new CTS only to have the dealer network expunged two months later is a very painful lesson indeed, with the value of my less than 1,000 mile investment halving overnight! The only upside is that my local Vauxhall dealer has been very helpful over the last six years.
This time around GM, remain committed to the rest of the world (both LHD and RHD) and do it properly - ie. the whole range together with diesel and hybrid power-plants to sit alongside petrol. If Cadilllac can't match BMW, Merc, Audi and Lexus from the outset, then don't even attempt a come-back.
Anything less will fail again and sign the absolute death-knell for the brand across Europe, Oz, NZ and SA.
